JBL SRX828SP Overview

Designed to deliver professional-quality bass for the SRX800 series powered large-format, full-range tops, the dual 18" JBL SRX828SP is a highly flexible, easy to use, 2000W powered subwoofer for large-scale live performance systems, mobile and fixed DJ systems, sound system rental and touring companies, and permanent installations.

The subwoofer is designed for use with the SRX815P and SRX835P speakers, but can also complement any full-range system. It incorporates V5 JBL tunings, providing compatibility with the flagship Vertec and VTX touring systems. The unit can be used in a variety of configurations including clusters, stereo ground stacks, and cardioid deployment. When used with main speakers, a pair of SRX828SP subwoofers are well equipped to cover an audience of 300 to 400.

The rear panel provides access to a full suite of user-controllable DSP driven by the SRX800 series powerful onboard 400 MHz Sharc DSP and includes 20 PEQ's, 2 seconds of delay, signal generators, input mixing, amplifier monitoring, and 50 user presets.

The subwoofer has two mono line inputs, each with a combo XLR-1/4" connector as well as a master volume knob for the overall level. The two mono inputs are mixed to a mono signal internally, while two XLR loop-thru outputs allow you to route the signal to additional SRX800 series speakers for extending the mono signal for better coverage.

The highly efficient 2000W Class-D amplifier powers both 18" woofers, which provides a sub-frequency range of 35 to 120 Hz with a sound pressure level powerful enough to ensure the entire audience can hear your performance.

Simple wired control is provided via Ethercon connector and third-party wireless router capability is included. Control options include Audio Architect, HiQnet Motion Control iOS app, and standalone applications for iOS and Android. The SRX828SP ships with a power cord.

Purposeful Design
Every detail in the SRX828SP was purposefully designed and through with full consideration for its intended use; each component carefully matched to achieve a remarkably tuned system that is powerful, easy to use, reliable, and extremely rugged. Ergonomically designed handles support an easy, non-fatiguing grip for streamlined handling. An LCD screen and glow-in-the-dark back-panel ink ensure fast, accurate setup even in low light.
Transducer Technology
JBL's patented Differential Drive Technology ferrite drivers incorporate 3" voice coils with lower mass ferrite magnets for reduced weight, increased power handling, low distortion and extended low-frequency response.
Drivecore by Crown
The SRX828SP is powered by Crown's proprietary front-end DriveCore technology featuring a massive 2000W Power Rating. With a remarkable 103 dB signal-to-noise ratio, the SRX828SP is capable of massive sound pressure levels with exceptional headroom, very-low distortion, and remarkable clarity throughout its frequency range.
HiQnet Network Control
With full HiQnet Network Integration, configuring the SRX828SP system is dramatically simplified, saving time while fully automating the control interface configuration. Simple wired control is provided via Ethercon connector and third-party wireless router capability is included. Control options include Audio Architect, HiQnet Motion Control iOS app, and standalone applications for iOS and Android.

Best Subwoofer

This subwoofer is the best on the market. I have two of these now paired with two SRX815P's. The sound is amazing, the bass hits hard. The boxes are very strong, I've let groups of people dance on them, that's how strong they are. The only downside, you need to people to transport them. The caster wheel system helps and if you had a trailer with a ramp, you could probably do it by yourself, but they are big and very heavy.

I bought this for my house and am blown away with its performance. I have very high expectations, but this just took it to another level, in fact I see myself purchasing a 2nd one. I don't like my neighbors so with a 2nd one I should see for sale signs going up soon. One note for any of you that are installing this in your home, you will run into a problem if your trying to run it out of the back of your AVR, the signal to the sub will not work as it is not strong enough. I had to purchase a small mixer, ran the sub ouput from my AVR to the mixer, and a 1/4" jack from the mixer to the Sub. Dont use a XLR connector is it is a balanced cable and does not work as well as a 1/4" unbalanced as I had to plug it into a RCA jack in my wall which is unbalanced as well. With the mixer this sub just flat kills it. It is amazing and I highly recommend it. 5 Stars.

The JBL SRX828SP 18" Dual Self-Powered Subwoofer System is a peak 2000 W rating for the whole unit.

Can you fly the SRX828SP? If so what mount would you recommend?

The SRX828SP does NOT have flypoints. It is not made or rated for safe suspension. JBL does not recommend that you fly this product.
