Fenix Flashlight PD35-TAC overview

  • 1Description

This version of Fenix's PD35, thePD35-TAC LED Flashlight, features two selectable operation modes for general purpose and tactical uses. In the Outdoor mode, the tailcap switch controls basic on/off with the five output intensities and strobe being selectable via the side body switch. When the light is set to Tactical mode, the switching and available outputs change for easier use. This easier switching and tactical-minded outputs makes operating the light and choosing outputs more intuitive which is critical in high-stress situations. In Tactical mode, switching and output selection is done using the tailcap pushbutton, with access to just the turbo, strobe, and low outputs for simplicity.

Utilizing a Cree XP-L (V5) LED, this versatile light produces an output range from a low task-orientated 8-lumens up to a powerful 1000 lumen turbo mode that is ideal for searching or lighting large areas and rooms. Its 1000 lumen strobe mode can be used to disorientate or signal in emergency situations. The light runs on a single user-supplied 18650 or two CR123 batteries, and features active and passive over-heat protection, digitally regulated output, and reverse-polarity protection.

Complementing the light's performance is a lightweight and durable aluminum allow body with a protective corrosion and scratch-resistant type III hard anodized finish. The light is impact-resistant tested to 3.3' drops, and IPX8-rated to be submersible to a depth of up to 6.6'. A textured body profile provides a sure grip in cold and wet conditions, and anti-roll areas are machined into the bezel and tailcap. The belt clip is removable for carrying the light in a holster or pocket without getting caught or snagged.

    Fenix Flashlight PD35-TAC reviews

PD35-TAC LED Flashlight (Tactical Edition) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless - no good for anything After a few weeks, the tailcap switch became erratic. Sometimes it shines when I hit the switch. Most of the time it doesn't. Sometimes it takes twenty or more clicks to get the thing to light. Click? Rats! Click? Rats! Click? Rats! Click? Rats! Click? Hey, it lit this time! It NEVER lights on the first click anymore. It's too bad, because with PD and TAC in its name, it appears to be marketed toward the self defense crowd, and with a BRIGHT 1,000 lumens it would work fine for that IF YOU CAN GET IT TO TURN ON. Mine won't. Even if yours works fine at first, it won't for long. How would you like to have THAT thought in the back of your head if you rely on this flashlight for defensive purposes? The phone numbers for Fenix service are all in foreign countries, and Fenix will not return my e-mails, so now I'm stuck with this completely useless and expensive piece of junk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT FLASHLIGHT Perfect example of workmanship combined with lumens for every situation. Would be great if the push button were recessed so that flashlight would stand on its own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing light, but not waterproof? An amazing flashlight with beautifully smooth beam spread and incredible (and adjustable) brightness in such a compact size. There is no hole or ring in the light beam - you could actually use this for lightpainting, as a bike handlebar headlight (with the right clamp), or sending warning signals via the strobe mode. The rechargable battery has a long life between charges. The only problem is that it isn't weather sealed and waterproof. Resistant, perhaps, but AFAIK it cannot be submerged and might even be subject to damage in a heavy rain if water gets in the side switch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Once again Fenix has made a good quality flashlight I have owned two other Fenix flashlights, both the LD22, but different years. I decided to upgrade to this, because I wanted to use rechargeable 18650 batteries, as well as gain the 1000lumen increase over the 215 I had.It is certainly brighter. The nicest thing about this over the LD22 I was using, is the dual modes it supports. In one mode, it cycles through the different brightness settings. In the other, it always goes for the brightest. This is preferable in some situations. The throw distance is a bit further than the LD22, but it also spreads the light about a bit more as well. The smaller mode button is an improvement over the rubbery button of the older LD22, and it is easy to press. I haven't found myself bumping it either.I am using this as my carry light. I carry it everywhere except bed and the shower, though I suppose I could take it in the shower, since it is waterproof... I would take my LD22 in the lake/pool, and never had issues. This has the same rating, but I have yet to go swimming with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I will buy this product again! I use this around the house and boating. You don't want a barge to sneak up on you if your on the river. Well made & durable. The 5 settings give you just enough light for whatever you are doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Flashlight These flashlights are awesome! Very bright and very durable! I purchased some panasonic re-chargeable batteries to go with it too and they last a very long time.
