Turn your attention to the back of the amp and you'll notice multiple options for connectivity: An effects loop (switchable between series and parallel) allow you to patch in stereo effects, while dual line outputs provide a convenient stereo feed into mixers, PAs, or recorders. You can achieve silent stereo for practicing using the 1/4" headphone jack on the front panel.

With the addition of a footswitch (available separately) you can enable the onboard chorus, vibrato, reverb, and distortion settings at the tap of a toe.

Roland JC-40 Reviews

Best Clean Amp on the Market

I've been playing guitar for 22 years and went through many different amps, both tube and solid state. The Jazz Chorus tops them all. This amp takes pedals better than any others, including Fender Twin and Vox AC30. The main issue with tube amps is limited clean headroom due to the tubes breaking up and coloring the sound as volume increases. The Jazz Chorus doesn't have this problem - it stays crystal clean even pushed at full volume, and more than loud enough to keep up with drums. Pedals sound the most natural through this amp, and there's no maintenance on tubes. It's portable and light enough to be able to carry up and down stairs as well. Highly recommend for anyone looking for pure, clean tone.

Beautiful clear tone

For small combo work with a hollow-body jazz guitar, this amp has a great clean tone and in small rooms plenty of power even at its 40 watt rating. It must be extremely efficient because I have yet to go beyond 1 on the volume.

question

can you plug a second guitar into the second input?
Asked by: Anonymous
The JC 40 is a stereo unit with 2 discrete signal paths and amplifiers. Proper connection would be a single guitar to the Left input or a stereo effect or pedal output to the L and R inputs to preserve the stereo effects. * If you connect a guitar to the R jack, the sound is heard only from the right speaker.

question

can this amp be used for a keyboard as well?
Asked by: Anonymous
It can! In addition, its unique in that it offers true stereo inputs, which many keyboard amps don't offer.
