Modeled after the legendary Roland RE-201 using COSM (Composite Object Sound Modeling), the BOSS RE-20 Space Echo Pedal achieves the same warm echo sound, but without the clunky form factor or rigorous maintenance of a real tape echo. The RE-20 maintains the signature tape "wow" and "flutter" sounds of the RE-201, as well as the input saturation and reverb applied to the echoes. While the sound is vintage, the functionality is not. Sounds can be manipulated in real time using the tap-tempo function or a separately available expression pedal like the Roland EV-5. 11 modes are available via the Mode Selector switch, varying the combination of reverb and echo, as well as offering reverb only. The RE-20 can operate in mono or stereo signal chains with its dual 1/4" inputs and outputs. Front panel controls include Input Volume, a Mode Selector, Echo Volume, Intensity, Repeat Rate, Bass, Treble, and Reverb Volume.

BOSS RE-20 Overview
Simulates the famous Roland RE-201 with the spacious, analog tone of the original Space Echo
Faithful modeling of the RE-201's tape flutter and magnetic head sound saturation
Tap input pedal allows delay time to be set by foot
Longer delay time than the original RE-201
Control parameters such as Repeat Rate, Intensity, and more via expression pedal
Mode Selector knob with 12 placements just like the original Space Echo
Repeat Rate and Delay Time Modes
The RE-20 features two modes to select from:
Normal Mode: The Repeat Rate knob functions over the same range as the
RE-201. Additionally, the maximum value that can be set for
the tap delay time is three seconds (when the Mode
Selector knob is set to the 3 or 7 position)
Long Mode: The range for the Repeat Rate knob setting is expanded to
twice the normal setting. Additionally, the maximum value
that can be set for the tap delay time is six seconds (when the
Mode Selector knob is set to the 3 or 7 position)
Rugged Design with Flexible Power Options
The RE-20 can run off of six AA batteries or an optional external 9 VDC power supply. The electronics are encased in a durable dual-pedal metal housing with a non-slip rubber base. This pedal utilizes a buffered bypass for silent switching and driving long cable runs, even while the pedal is disengaged
