Eliminator Lighting ED15 Reviews

It works fine but not as user-friendly as other similar ones

I do some lighting design for a small community theater. We needed a way to control some non-DMX on-stage lights and special effects lighting from the light board. This unit was among several dimmer packs I investigated and was competitively priced compared to its features: four separate channel DMX control with paired analog/digital controlling. Setting it up required a little background knowledge as the terms used aren't very familiar or descriptive. And the DIP switch requires some math thinking to set it to the desired channel, but we did manage to program it and the pack worked fine for our production. I had a AC/DC adapter plugged into one channel and an on-stage lamp. Both worked fine in dimmer mode. I could've set the lamp to on/off mode but it looked better when everything faded to black at the same time instead of the lamp winking out separately. I did not test the sound reactive input, so cannot comment on that. While it did fine, I ended up returning it, mainly because the DIP switch set up doesn't allow you to check or adjust the settings in the dark as easily as an LED display with buttons. It is certainly a value alternative to those competing models, but to me I'll spend the extra money for that versatility.

Does it have a port where I can play my own music through it or is it pre loaded with it's own christmas music?
Asked by: Matthew
This is a dimmer pack, and does not have any pre-loaded music. It does have a small microphone so that it can be sound activated, and by using the dip switches you can change the pattern.

Can you set a manual level on each channel? I don't want the chase function, just to be able to set a level without using a console
Asked by: Martha
The Eliminator ED-15 dimmer pack does not allow for manual controls. A better solution for your needs would be the Elation Professional CyberPak. https://bhpho.to/3EymBMA

What do the sound activated programs control? If it is a light(s) then how long do they stay on?
Asked by: Thomas
Once the ED15 is set to the sound activation mode, it will chase through the built in programs as long as it hears audio.

question

Could one use these to control the output of AC powered Quasar LED tubes?
Asked by: Chase B.
no. don't use this on an LED. LED's don't dim linearly with power output. Could really mess it up.

question

Is there a way to mount this on a wall or to a light pole? The images don't really show this.
Asked by: Anonymous
The one I got from B&H has a detachable A shaped mounting bracket with a hole for a c-clamp. I would not recommend wall mounting because it will heat up during use and could cause damage or fire. It is a good unit with easy settings. Paul C, Decatur GA
