Samsung U28E590D overview

  • 1Description

With a resolution four times that of standard Full HD, the U28E590D 28" 16:9 4K UHD LCD Monitor from Samsung generates a crisp, clear picture. With support for a UHD 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 and 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut your pictures are displayed with enhanced color accuracy. This monitor also features a 1 ms response time and AMD FreeSync technology to satisfy the needs of gamers and those who enjoy watching fast paced movies and videos. Whether watching movies or working on that excel spreadsheet, you can multitask with ease using picture-in-picture (PIP) 2.0 technology to split the screen in two for a side by side view of both tasks simultaneously. Setup and configuration of the U28E590D is simple as it comes equipped with both HMDI and DisplayPort connectors and can be wall mounted to take full advantage of the 170°/160° horizontal and vertical viewing angles.

Realistic UHD Picture Quality
The Samsung UE590 UHD monitor offers PC viewing, gaming, and more, all in enhanced Ultra HD picture quality. With a resolution that's four times higher than Full HD, this ultra high-definition (UHD) monitor delivers images that use 8 million pixels for a more realistic picture.
AMD FreeSync
Enjoy smooth images, even during fast-moving scenes. AMD FreeSync dynamically syncs the screen refresh rate with the frame rate of your content to minimize input latency and dramatically reduce image tearing and stutter during gaming. Plus, with a fast 1 ms response time, you'll see fast on-screen motion clearly and smoothly with less motion blur, judder, and ghosting.
More than 1 Billion Colors
This UHD monitor features 64 times more color than conventional monitors - 1 billion colors. That means that movies, games, and other multimedia content appear detailed, natural looking, and realistic. More colors also ensure a smoother transition between different tones for a richer, more accurate picture.
Easy Multitasking with PIP 2.0
With Picture-in-Picture (PIP) 2.0 technology, you can watch your favorite movie or video in one window while simultaneously working on a spreadsheet. PIP 2.0 maintains the source's original resolution--up to Full HD--so you enjoy a crisp, clear picture. You can also adjust the size and position of the PIP window to fit your needs.
Connectivity for UHD-Compatible Devices
You can connect multiple Ultra HD devices, like PCs and gaming consoles, to the UE590. There are two HDMI inputs as well as one Display Port input on the back panel. Enjoy upgraded HDMI support with an upgraded HDMI (v2.0) that supports UHD resolutions at a 60 Hz refresh rate, so 4K content plays smoothly without delay.
Eye Saver Mode
Eye Saver Mode optimizes your viewing comfort by reducing blue light emissions and flickers at the touch of a button. Read documents, play games, watch movies and edit photos for longer periods of time, and experience a more comfortable view, without worrying about eye strain or fatigue.

    Samsung U28E590D reviews

    U28E590D 28" 16:9 4K UHD LCD Monitor is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far So good I fell in love with this display once I saw the demo show me 4k. Ive only had it a short while but it has performed phenomenally. I edit videos and pictures on this bad boy, have my work computer hooked to it as well as watch tv on it. One of the coolest features it has is PIP, not to mention the monitor came with an HDMI cord and a cord for my work docking station already in the box saving me from having to buy them. Light weight and just great. Highly recommend. Only con is the power button its like a tiny joystick that controls everything from sound to settings to input selections. I would have liked dedicated buttons instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Monitor for a good price Overall, the monitor is very good with my only negative comment being that the brightness or color shade changes as you view the monitor at an angle. It is not too bad from left to right but it is noticeable in the vertical direction -- this not really a problem as I am usually seated when using the monitor and my eyes stay at pretty much the same level. The power button is on the back of the panel which makes for a cleaner look but is also a little different from my previous Dell monitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product The picture on this monitor is terrific. I have a R9 280 video card with an AMD 8 cpu processor and the monitor really improves my X-Plane flight simulator. Working on pictures with Adobe Photoshop is also greatly improved. The display is a little bright, but I much prefer it as is instead of using the eyesaver mode which is just a push button away. Installation was just remove from box, hook up power cord and display port cord and start windows 10. It came up working in max pixels. I switched to HDMI so I could use the monitor speakers (not an option with display port cord). I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent UHD Monitor This monitor is all that the marketing propaganda says that it will be. Crystal clear image and decent refresh rate. Samsung setup documentation was pretty weak and their help line was not very helpful but with enough playing around with it I've got it so that provides a beautiful picture. I use it for editing photos in Lightroom and Photoshop and it has been great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure Visual Excellence What do you buy a monitor for .? You want a visual experience that is great. This monitor exceeds my expectations. Keep in mind that most users are going to use this monitor for 4-7 hours a day. While building my system the most important is (eye candy) i want to be able to look at my monitor that is easy on my eyes and has great visuals. I have used this monitor with the onboard hdmi and display port on my Asus 1080ti video card. Both are very easy to watch and use. Gaming graphics @ 4k is stunning and with the 1ms response time it makes the games the best experience I have had. The negative. The Vesa mount is 75mm standard , however it is offset. It is located at the top ,instead of the middle. I use multiple monitors and have a desk mount to support dual monitors and they cannot be side by side due to the mount difference. however if you just use it on the desk , the adjustments that can be made are very extensive. Planning on buying 2 more very soon. One other thing, The power supply is external and can be replaced if you have a power line problem. So a new power supply instead of sending it somewhere for repair, if that ever comes up. I will get another monitor very soon to replace the other monitor I use , then the VESA issue will be corrected. For the price point you really can not do any better. And in some instances you can more and still come up short in quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor att a great price I bought a 24" UHD Samsung monitor to replace my old Samsung 24" LED monitor. I'm limited on desktop space and it fit my area nicely. Good sturdy monitor stand, brig picture, fast response times for gaming. Only negative about this monitor is the controls are in a joystick format which takes a bit of getting used to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! A Few Things to Note! Main Use of Monitor: Graphic Design / Video Editing / Gaming Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R9 290X Overall this is an excellent monitor at a great price! A few things to note: -Be sure to use a DisplayPort 1.2 connection for full 4K at 60Hz (HDMI only does 30Hz). Don't forget to install the driver included on the CD as well, or from the Samsung website. -If you use Catalyst Control Center, be sure to set the refresh rate to 60Hz if you want 10-bit color. The 64Hz setting restricts you to 8-bit color. -There is no DisplayPort 1.2 driver available for Windows 10 as of the date of this review. This isn't a huge issue but I have experienced some flickering when I have light colors on one side of the screen and dark colors on the other. Some blogs recommend going into the Device Manager and navigating to 'View>Show hidden devices', and then deleting old monitor drivers if present. I can't comment on the effectiveness of this, but thought it should be noted. -It took me hours to get AMD's FreeSync feature working, as the option wasn't showing up in my graphics software (Catalyst Control Center). After updating all of the drivers and at the end of my rope, I simply unplugged the cable and plugged it back in. Sure enough, that did the trick. Of course. Be sure to go into the monitor's OSD and select FreeSync>On. -I enjoy 'Game Mode' with AMD FreeSync for video and gaming, but keeping 'Game Mode' on allows you to only adjust the brightness of the screen. You will need to adjust the color profile in your graphics software or elsewhere if you have 'Game Mode' on, not from the monitor's OSD. If you're a graphic designer or photographer, I would recommend a third-party color calibrator for more accurate colors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from False and Misleading Advertising from Samsung I bought the Samsung 4K 28 UE590 monitor with high hopes. It was advertised as having over 1 Billion colors, 170 horizontal viewing angle, and 160 vertical viewing angle. I got home with it and immediately hooked it up. At first glance it's a great monitor, however, the vertical viewing angle is no where near 160! It's barely 30!!! I contacted Samsung Support inquiring if I possibly got a bad monitor or if the monitor simply does not perform as advertised. I was told by Cole that The monitor is working as intended. Viewing angles are subject to be different for each individual customer as everyone sees things differently. The advertised 170 horizontal viewing angle and a 160 vertical viewing angle are an average of measurements. So apparently Samsung advertises technical specs as subjective opinion instead of objective facts. I'm pretty sure there's nothing subjective about this image being total trash! Take a look at the photo I took from maybe 25-30 degrees off-center. Who would ever call this a 160 degree viewing angle? I had the monitor for less than 24 hours before exchanging it for a 27 LG UD69P. It is $100 more, but hey, I guess you get what you pay for! The LG advertises 175 degree viewing angle both vertically and horizontally, and it every bit of that. Colors, contrast, and gamma all maintain throughout the entire 175 degrees. The only reason it isn't more is because you can't see the screen beyond that. Save yourself time and frustration and stay far away from the Samsung UE590.
