JVC SR-HD2700US overview

  • 1Description

JVC adds live HDMI recording and simultaneous disc/HDD recording to its Blu-ray recorder line with the SR-HD2700US.

This advanced Blu-ray and HDD Combo Deck allows you to create high-definition Blu-ray discs or standard-definition DVDs without being connected to a computer. Record from cameras, switchers, and various other sources via HDMI, HD/SD-SDI, and analog inputs to a built-in 1TB HDD or directly to Blu-ray or DVD discs.

USB 2.0, iLink, and SDHC support further expands your input source compatibility. The SR-HD2700US is also capable of down-converting HD input signals and burning them to DVD in real-time, in case you or a client require standard definition files. The versatility and efficiency of the SR-HD2700US makes it well-suitable for event recording, flight packs, mobile DIT systems, and post production facilities.

Note: HDMI input and disc duplication are limited to non-copy-protected material.

    JVC SR-HD2700US reviews

    SR-HD2700US Blu-ray Disc & HDD Recorder is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good machine-crummy tech support! Good recorder but B&H nor JVC offers any tech support on this product. B&H sends you to JVC for support, JVC gives you a phone number to call for support that dead ends to voicemail. You will not get a call back. Very challenging to work all the bugs out with absolutely NO tech support!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a real find, a fantastic device for archiving video! I was a bit nervous about the price and lack of reviews on this model but have to report that I'm very pleasantly surprised at how well its been performing after a month. This isn't a simple vcr-esque recorder, you will have to study the manual and get the hang of the remote (both of which could be a little clearer) but it does have a remarkable range of options and is qualitatively quite strong in its encoding and burning results. I'm using the JVC to optically archive a massive personal library of recordings, SD and HD from every format you can think of, including Betamax, BetaSP, VHS/SVHS, Hi-8, DV even laserdisc and a few non-copy protected things off of my HDMI cable box. Nothing has failed in encoding or burning to date, everything looks as good as their input source have allowed. I have only used High Quality settings on this device: 2 hr mpeg-2 encoding, 4hr mpeg-4 and XP-mpeg2 (1hr on a single layer dvd-r, 5 hrs on a BD-r), all of which have met or surpassed my expectations. I have not tested all aspects of the machine yet but will over the coming weeks. I have not tried downconversion, reconverting files, copying discs to the HDD nor connecting to a LAN and a PC to trade files but will attempt all shortly. On its negatives, I haven't played much with SD beyond archiving to BD-r, which works gloriously. It is apparently incompatible with +R discs, which may be a problem for some esp when looking for a dual layer. Also, its menu system, chapter maker and editing interfaces are a bit clumsy and could use refinement, esp on the remote. As a final critique, I think they could have been more aggressive in their bitrate options in the software design, particularly on the MPEG-4 settings, where a 3hr setting for a BD-R would have produced as flawless results as their best MPEG-2 speed. If you are looking for an archival machine to permanently transfer and burn video media, this is the closest thing to a swiss army knife. Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DIDN'T DO WAHT I WANTED I THINK THIS IS A GOOD PRODUCT BUT I COULD NEVER GET IT TO WORK AS I WANTED IT TO. CALLED JVC UP SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL COULDN'T GET IT TO WORK. MANUAL SOUNDS EASY BUT FOLLOWING IT DIDN'T WORK. I WANTED TO RECORD EITHER DIRECTLY TO BLU RAY OR FROM THE HARD DRIVE TO A BLU RAY. NEVER DID GET IT TO WORK ON A BLU RAY. I THINK IT NEEDS A COUPLE OF UP DATES TO WORK THE WAY IT SAYS IT WILL. SOUNDED GOOD ON PAPER BUT DIDN'T WORK IN REAL LIFE. I SENT IT BACK FOR A REFUND BUT WILL LOOK AT IT AGAIN NEXT FALL.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Supports a disk format that you can not buy I needed to record on DVD dual layer blank disks, but the recorder only supports DVD-R DL. The only dual layer DVD disks that you can buy are DVD+R DL. Why is JVC selling an out dated function? If you need dual layer DVD I wish you good luck on finding some that work. Other than this, I would have given it 5 stars.
