AudioQuest JITTERBUG overview

  • 1Description

With the JitterBug Data & Power Noise Filter from audioquest you can reduce the electronic pollution flowing through the data and power lines of your USB port. This USB 2.0 compliant noise filter can be used in both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, although when used with a USB 3.0 connection you can only achieve USB 2.0 speeds. Once connected, the JitterBug virtually eliminates all RFI and EMI pollution that can lead to degradation of sound as well as packet loss. As a result, you benefit from a more reliable connection to a variety of USB devices including routers, NAS devices, multimedia streaming devices, and much more.

JitterBug's dual-function line-conditioning circuitry works on both the data (communication) and vbus (power) lines of USB ports: The latter reduces noise and prevents EMI and RFI from contaminating the associated digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and/or cable. The former minimizes parasitic resonances created by the computer and USB bus, and is optimized to remove noise above the USB 2.0 frequency specification, making it ideal for audio playback.
Reduces the noise and ringing that plague both the data and power lines of USB ports
Measurably reduces jitter and packet errors
Improves dynamic contrast, warmth and resolution

AudioQuest JITTERBUG reviews

JitterBug Data & Power Noise Filter is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought this as a companion to the AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC. I was getting much improved sound with the DAC, but a ton of digital noise as well. Jitterbug appeared to be the logical solution. The Jitterbug has reduced 80% of the noise, so I am getting much less noise - a type of phase-shifting, flanging noise - but when the noise comes, it's much more pronounced. Every 10 minutes or so, I need to unplug and re-plug to get rid of the noise. Maybe I got a defective unit?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great tweak! I use a MacAir as the main source in my stereo, with a portable USB powered HDD containing all the music files. I've plugged a JitterBug in each of the 2 USB ports of the Mac; one goes to the HDD, the other goes to an external DAC, which feeds the preamp. Now, the bass is a bit deeper and better defined, and instruments are more precisely located on the soundstage. Easy to use, inexpensive, sounds great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this product. Did not notice any difference in clarity when using the JitterBug. However, I did notice that the higher frequencies were cut a tad and were not as crisp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential accessory This is needed to properly tame the noise and power issues found in a PC/laptop. Kind of pointless to by a dragon fly and supply it with noisy power supply. Like putting cheap gas in a high end sports car.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Quick simple and effective. If you play music from a laptop or computer that does not have a special soundcard, this is a small, easy and low cost method to get better audio quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The biggest bargain of the century I bought this partly because I just needed a new toy to play with and partly because it got good reviews. And I expected to hear some kind of near-subliminal improvement in sound as is often the case with tweaks (sometimes I wonder if what I'm hearing with tweaks is actually improvement in an absolute sense, or just different in a relative sense). So I was completely unprepared for the incredible difference this little unit made. Absolutely day and night. The sound is more natural, more spacious, and more detailed while also being more organic. I thought maybe it was just the first flush of having something different in the system, so I took it out after a while and listened again. The soundstage immediately collapsed, the music became sound, and the whole thing seemed flat and uninvolving. Then I put it back in and everything came to life again. So now I can't listen without it. I'm enjoying recordings that were at the very bottom of my list and hearing new beauty in them. Everything I listen to sounds wonderful, even early digital recordings soaked in synthetic reverb. I can say unequivocally that in 50 years of audiophile addiction and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in pursuit of music that no tweak of any kind in my system has ever produced such an essential and disproportionate improvement in my enjoyment.
