Ideal for voice-over and narration but versatile enough for other studio applications, the Octo-842S from The Hook Studios features more sonic transparency than foam windscreens. This innovative filter installs by simply sliding it directly over the microphone body, allowing easy adjustment of the mic-capsule distance from 1.25 to 1.5". The precision-mounted rubber o-rings keep the filter on target and on axis. Weighing less than one ounce, the frame is fabricated from lightweight aluminum with a durable powder-coat finish and features dual Acoustex screens.

Really nice design and works well. As others have said, it’s pricey, but it’s thoughtful build quality and vocal transparency are worth it to me.

I do voiceover work, and I just switched from a large diaphragm condenser mic to a Sennheiser MKH-416 shotgun mic and needed a pop filter for it. After seeing so many of the best voiceover YouTubers using this specific one, I decided to give it a run - and it’s worked perfectly. Is it spendy for what it is (plastic and metal)? It sure is. But is it also effective? Absolutely. This specific filter has become an industry standard (just like the 416) for voice actors the world over, and now I can see why. The service from B&H was great, as always! :)

What is the shock mount setup you are using with your MKH 416 Jerry? I am using Rode desktop boom arm and wanted something like this to give extra versatility.
You can use the Rycote INV-7 InVision Microphone Suspension for Stand and Boompole Mounting (B&H # RYINV7) or the Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII Microphone Suspension - Lyre Shockmount (B&H # RYINVHGMKIII ) which will both work very well with the Sennheiser MKH 416 and the Hook Studios Octo-842S Front-Address Pop Filter and can be mounted on the Rode PSA1 Studio Boom Arm.

question
Will this fit a Rode NTG2?
Someone else replied to this.. Yes. The NTG2 diameter is only 22 mm. Mkh 416 (which is listed as one of the mics to fit) is 19 so those rubber bands will stretch the extra 3 mm w/out issue.Answered by Andrew W. purchased on Dec 14, 2016

question
Will this fit an MKH 50?
Don't see why not...the MKH 50m is 6mm larger dia. but that shouldn't be a problem for the elastic to go over.
