Savage 50WLED overview

  • 1Description

Often used in lighting kits, the 5500K daylight-balanced 50W, 120V Savage LED Studio Lamp is a fan-cooled, tri-band technology LED light source with an E26 Edison base and a high CRI of 90 for accurate color rendition. Like all LED sources of this type it runs cool and consumes very little current. The 50W LED lamp is the equivalent of a 350W tungsten flood lamp.

    Savage 50WLED reviews

LED Studio Lamp (50W, 120V) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and cool light but stubby base. I purchased two of these lights to replace the 500 watt incandescent lights for my light stand with reflectors and umbrellas. The bulb could not reach to the bottom of the socket due to contacting the reflector. To make the bulb work, I bought an electric socket adapter (with additional outlets) from the local hardware. The reduced heat from the lights was a great benefit as I ended up near the lights much of the time. Since the beam spread is about 160 degrees I didn't need the reflector and probably could have done without the umbrellas. The lack of intense heat made disassembly faster as you can handle the bulb immediately after turning off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright, cool and quiet fan. Bright white light and quite quiet fan. Nicer than standard LED bulbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent power I wasn't expecting much from this light but I thought I'd give it a shot because it was cheap compared to other sources of constant light. I still haven't used it in studio work but man is this thing bright. It's also the perfect color temp out of the box. wish it were dimmable but nothing a diffuser can't fix. highly recommend. I'll update this review if my opinion changes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THESE LIGHT TURN OFF RANDOMLY! Do not buy if you use them in a soft box. They overheat and randomly turn on and off which ruined a bunch of shots I was filming

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright white lights with bonus RF remote control dimmer I did not know what to expect, but wanted to give the bulb a try as a slide/negative copy light using the Nikon ES-2 Film Digitizing Adapter (arrives tomorrow) on my Nikon D850. I mounted it in an Impact bulb socket with an Impact 5 and 10 inch reflector. The bulb crown stuck out about 1/2 inch beyond the 5 inch reflector, but not on the 10 inch. To my surprise the package arrived with a dimmer and 2 additional colored lenses. The extra lenses were amber and blue screw-on lens that replace the clear (not diffused white) bulb lens. The remote control will power on/off the bulb and adjust the intensity in 10 increments. The 2.4GHz RF remote must be paired with the bulb into one of 4 groups. It seems you could control multiple bulbs in a single group and/or individually in 4 different groups. I was so excited I ordered another while they were still in stock. I only gave it 4 stars because the 2 AAA batteries were dead (for both remotes). I added new batteries and easily paired them to the bulbs. The fan noise is not bad and won't affect photos (not sure about video). Hopefully the LEDs and fan last for many hours and the fans do not get louder with age. Another inconvenience is the clear lens must be removed before adding the colored lens. I would prefer a snap-on filter. Not a big deal as I probably will not use them anyway. If I do use an alternate lens, where will I store the clear lens without loosing or scratching it? I have not yet checked the white balance, but I am looking forward to playing with it and doing some slide and negative copying soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will buy a second lamp I really like this lamp. I used it for video, and fan noise was no problem. No heat! Very nice light.
