Hello King, I would say in most applications it would be. As you add the sections it would eventually bend far too much. I would recommend the Rode Mini Boompole, Boompole, or Boompole Pro.

Can you attach this boom pole to a stand so you don't have to hold it with your hands all the time? Any recommendations?
Yes, it can be attached to a pole to prevent holding. I have not attached it to anything but I have leaned it against furniture, across the back of chairs, on the table and across shrubbery (shooting outside), and angled the microphone in the direction required.
