Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-LITE-US overview

  • 1Description

The UAP-AC-LITE UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System from Ubiquiti Networks is a scalable enterprise access point solution designed to be easily deployed and managed. It supports the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard with speeds of up to 867 Mb/s in the 5 GHz radio band, and up to 300 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz radio band. The Wi-Fi system offers simultaneous dual band operation with 2 x 2 MIMO technology for each band. It has a range of up to 400' and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. This UniFi Access Point (AP) has a sleek design and can be easily mounted to a ceiling tile or wall, using the included mounting hardware.

The Wi-Fi system includes UniFi Controller software that can be installed on a PC, Mac, or Linux machine within the network, and is easily accessible through a standard Web browser. Using the UniFi Controller software, an Enterprise Wi-Fi network can be quickly configured and administered, without any special training. Real-time status, automatic UAP device detection, map loading, and advanced security options are all seamlessly integrated in the system.

UniFi AP

Save Money and Save Time
The UniFi AP comes bundled with a non-dedicated software controller that can be deployed on an on-premise PC, Mac, or Linux machine, in a private cloud, or using a public cloud service.
Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO Technology
The 802.11ac MIMO Technology offers Gigabit speeds and range up to 400'.
Intuitive UniFi Controller Software
Install, configure, and manage all of the UniFi APs with the intuitive and user-friendly UniFi controller user interface.
Build wireless networks as big or small as needed. Start with one or more and expand to thousands, while maintaining a single unified management system.

UniFi Controller
Use the UniFi controller to provision thousands of UniFi APs, map out networks, quickly manage system traffic, and provision additional UniFi APs.
You can use the configurable reporting and analytics to manage large user populations and expedite troubleshooting.
Guest Portal/Hotspot Support
Easy customization options for guest portals include authentication, hotspot setup, and the ability to use your own external portal server. Use UniFi's rate limiting for guest portal/hotspot package offerings. Apply different bandwidth rates (download/upload), limit total data usage, and limit duration of use. The UniFi AP includes hotspot functionality. It includes built-in support for billing integration using major credit cards, and built-in support for voucher-based authentication. It also includes a built-in hotspot manager for voucher creation, guest management, payment refund, full customization, and branding of hotspot portal pages.
Multi-Site Management
A single UniFi Controller running in the cloud can manage multiple sites, multiple, distributed deployments, and multi-tenancy for managed service providers. Each site is logically separated and has its own configuration, maps, statistics, guest portals, and administrator read/write, and read-only accounts.
WLAN Groups
The UniFi controller can manage flexible configurations of large deployments. Create multiple WLAN groups and assign them to an AP's radio.
Upload map images of your location for a visual representation of each wireless network.
UniFi organizes and visualizes network traffic in clear and easy-to-read graphs.
Extend Your Coverage
With the UniFi controller software running in an NOC or in the cloud, administrators can extend and centrally manage the wide areas of indoor and outdoor coverage, using any combination of UniFi APs.
Easy Mounting
Sleek wall or ceiling mount design (all accessories included).
It has an industrial design with an LED provisioning ring or square, which provides administrator location tracking and alerts for each device.
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality allows both power and data to be carried over a single Ethernet cable to the device. The unit can also be powered from the Ubiquiti TOUGHSwitch PoE PRO (sold separately).

    Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-LITE-US reviews

UAP-AC-LITE UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from These are Great - would be 5 star if they used 48V PoE These units perform wonderfully just as all the Unifi Products do. The only thing I wish is that this unit was the 48V PoE instead of 24V. We have over 70 Unifi Access Points deployed on a campus across multiple sites and generally have no issues. They just work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Network Equipment I have used Ubiquity UniFi equipment in two church network installations and they have been fantastic. The hardware is high quality, the administration is easy to use, and the price is inexpensive. The end result is a professional network at an approachable price. I especially like the AC-Lite AP, which combines several upper-end features (gigabit ethernet port, dual-band, multiple SSID, guest networks, and support for everything up to 802.11AC) into a very small and very reasonably priced package. There are some higher-end models that pack in more antennas for higher throughput, but I found these to be just right for our installations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from B&H Still Selling Old Stock This product was updated to support 802.3af POE in September of 2016. As of October 2017, B&H is still shipping units from June 2016. If you aren't getting it at a huge discount or sure you will be fine with only passive POE support, consider buying it elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Reliable, great range and versatile. I've been using Unifi UAPs for almost 7 years now. Of the dozens installed, I've only had issues with one which I was able to resolve on my own. Unifi Controller V5 is fantastic with more power than most small to mid-sized business will ever need. Easy to install, just make sure you have a server where you can install the controller software (it is possible to run the software for updating only if you don't want Guest Network options or data tracking). The UAP-AC-LITE is a nice size reduction from its predecessor and speeds have increased drastically. Note the 5 pack does not include the proprietary Ubiquiti POE injectors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I bought this to work in conjunction with the ER-X. It works perfectly, and gives a lot of control over your wireless network. Just note, the ER-X uses EdgeOS software to set up and configure. This AP uses UniFi Controller. The UniFi controller can be installed on a computer on your network to configure, etc. You do not have to have the UniFi Controller running on a computer after configuration UNLESS you want the extra features like Guest Portal (space for your "guests" to login to use your WiFI). I have a RaspberryPI running the UniFi Controller and it works perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Old Stock - No PoE Like the other reviewer said, B&H still shipping out old stock. Ordered mines on December 5, 2017 and got a unit with test date 06/26/16. Ubiquiti has released updated PoE versions since December 2016.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 stars and then some ! Far better solution for home and small business than consumer combo routers or other APs. Excellent speed, easy to set up, rock solid, superb coverage. I regularly get 180Mbps on Oookla speedtest with a 5 Ghz device. The UniFi controller is not required for small installations - there is an phone app for setup. Hints: - Set an appropriate power level (auto is actually High) for each band - 2.4 GHz should be HT20 - lock to a channel after doing a site survey - ZHO is for very specific environments and normally shouldn't be used

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my second UniFi AP and won't be the last I've had the original UAP for around 4 years or so and found the AP and controller to be a great solution for my home network with 8 users and various home entertainment equipment. It was getting to have issues though. Not because of the equipment, even though the uplink was only 10BaseT, but 2.4 was getting really dirty in my location. Finally getting these new ones for under $ made this upgrade a no brainer.I can't say what it would be like for a new user since I already had my UniFi controller going on a Pi. My experience was fantastic though, found and adopted the router in no time flat.I don't know what I'll do if I can't get another to expand or replace. All the other good AP's are way too expensive and the home use ones are just so lame.
