Built with the same materials and to the same precise specifications as the larger models, Leica's 8x32 Ultravid HD-Plus Binocular delivers bright and clear high-contrast images across the entire field of view with true color rendition and virtually zero distortion. The smaller objectives reduces the overall size and weight for better portability and less muscle strain during long-duration viewing session, while still delivering competent low-light performance. The combination of the relative low 8x magnification and wide 62° apparent angle of view produces an immersive viewing experience that lends itself to long observation sessions.

Leica employs specially formulated SCHOTT HT glass which increases light transmission especially in the blue-violet light band, improves color fidelity, and enhances low-light performance. Scratch and abrasion-resistant High Durable Coating (HDC), and hydrophobic AquaDura coating on outer lens protect surfaces and causes water and oil to bead off for easier cleaning and clearer vision. The roof prisms feature P40 phase-correction and the proprietary High Lux System (HLS) coatings. These coatings virtually eliminate chromatic aberration for enhanced color rendition and increased contrast.

Complementing the optical performance are uncompromising construction details. To reduce user fatigue during long glassing sessions, the chassis is made of a lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy, with a high-tensile titanium center hinge axle. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled for fogproof performance and sealed to make the binocular submersible to 16 feet. Ergonomic thumb indents on the bottom of the binocular coupled with protective rubber armoring provide a comfortable slip-resistant grip. A lubrication-free focus system provides fast and precise focusing, with PETP-Discs to provide smooth movement throughout the broad operating temperature range.

    8x32 Ultravid HD-Plus Binocular is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect compromise binocular With Leica Ultravids, the quality of vision is a given - as good as anything out there; however, these have turned out to be far more frequently used than I had imagined they would. They excel for sporting events and nature watching, mostly because of their compact size. My other decent pair is a Leica 7x42. These are much heavier, bulkier and of course, much better in low light, but at the last minute, I usually find myself reaching for the 8x32s instead. The other downside with either of these is that I never use my other two pairs of mid-range binoculars at all - the Leicas are just so much better. You won't really notice any functional difference between 7x and 8x in daylight unless you're really nit-picking. If I only had one pair of binoculars, these would be they, and I hate to say it, not the 7s

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ultimate all around binocular. I do some birding, but my primary bino use is for hunting. I have several different sets. I mainly hunt from tree or ground blinds and carry three different purpose binos when the situation permits. These include the 8x32 Ultravid HD Plus, the 7x42 Ultravid HD plus, and a set of Canon L 10x42 IS. Early morning and late evening are the most active times for most wildlife and the 7x42 is ideal for viewing very low light activity. In daylight hours, the Canon L is awesome. It is tack sharp and the IS steadiness and clarity have to be seen to be believed. However, it is heavy, tiring, and exhausting to use for long periods of time. That leaves the Ultravid 8x32 HD Plus. It is as good as it gets once you get a bit more light. It is much better than the human eye for seeing into darkened landscapes and for brightness it has the same geometric light value as the Ultravid HD Plus 10X42. Leica design, quality, and durability are legendary. I still keep my 48 year old Leitz 7X35B set in my vehicle for viewing something of interest when driving. After using an Ultravid 8X32 for many years, I finally purchased the HD Plus model. There is a difference. They are the very sharpest, and the best all around glass I have every used. On a hunt, I use them 80% of my glassing time, For birding, its the only pair I carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing viewing My old Leitz binoculars failed after 20 years, so I went for a new pair. A very good upgrade. These are remarkably sharp and clear. Compact and light weight, they are ideal for birding. They are also waterproof to 5 meters, good for an outdoor enthusiast. I am very happy with my purchase.
