The Controller for Phantom 3 Standard from DJI is a replacement transmitter for Phantom 3 Standards with 5.8 GHz receivers. The transmitter features a range of up to 0.6 miles, and incorporates a Wi-Fi range extender so that a live view and camera functionality can be accessed through the DJI GO app. Both sticks of the Controller are spring-loaded so that they return to center when released, enabling the Phantom to attain a fixed hover.

DJI CP.PT.000258 Overview

The Controller for Phantom 3 Standard from DJI is a replacement transmitter for Phantom 3 Standards with 5.8 GHz receivers. The transmitter features a range of up to 0.6 miles, and incorporates a Wi-Fi range extender so that a live view and camera functionality can be accessed through the DJI GO app. Both sticks of the Controller are spring-loaded so that they return to center when released, enabling the Phantom to attain a fixed hover.

The DJI Phantom 3 Std. controller I have came with a smartphone clamp. That's needed but it's not shown in the picture. Is it an accessory you carry?

Yes. With the clamp, I have visual of the copter's flight and can work the controller simultaneously.

Can the DJI controller for Phantom 3 Std. completely control the camera; that is, start/stop the video, snap stills,tilt the gimbal?Can this same controller totally control the Phantom 3?Does one have to have a smartphone/tablet to control the drone?

It cannot it can only tilt the gimbal. It can control the drone completely just not take video and snap shots. It does not need a smartphone or tablet to control the drone but you will need it to see the drones view and you will need it to take videos and snapshots.
