Get a great understanding of lighting technique with this DVD box set of Mastering Lighting: Volume One from Slickforce Studio. Photographer and cinematographer Nick Saglimbeni has put together a quality tutorial set that joins Mastering Retouching and Mastering Compositing as an easy-to-understand series on photography. Volume One allows viewers to follow Nick from concept, to scouting, to lighting, and then through post production as he reverse engineers his shooting process while detailing mistakes photographers commonly make. It also covers topics such as lighting large spaces, redirecting the sun, balancing natural and artificial light sources, creating contrast, making skin and hair glow, working with fog, choosing specific camera and exposure settings, and finding the best composition when working on-location.
In addition to the video tutorial, this DVD box set also includes a miniature Slickforce Softlight and a printed copy of Nick's Lighting Journal. The miniature softlight is a replica of a full-size light and can be used to pre-visualize and plan your lighting setups prior to shooting. It comes fitted with a 4" octagonal softbox with reflective silver interior and removable diffusion cover, a 2.25" light stand base with a pair of 1.2" extender poles, and can be powered via the 12.25" power cord or included battery generator. Rounding out the box set is the Lighting Journal, which contains detailed diagrams of the lighting setups covered in the tutorial, as well as additional information not covered in the video portion. A reference glossary of lighting terms is also featured to help you acquire an expanded lighting vocabulary.
Nick Saglimbeni is a multi-award winning photographer and cinematographer, internationally known for his achievements in tutorial development and 3D photography.
