Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Overview

Distribute a high-resoution 12G-SDI source to Quad-Link SDI equipment with the Teranex Mini 12G-SDI to Quad SDI Converter from Blackmagic Design. Housed in a low-profile enclosure, this Teranex Mini Converter seamlessly fits in studio and post-production workflows or anywhere with multiple displays or a video wall design. The unit features one 12G-SDI input, one 12G-SDI loop output, and four 3G-SDI distribution outputs that support multirate auto-switching between DCI 4K, UHD 4K, HD, and SD sources and destinations. The unit also supports up to 16 channels of broadcast-quality 24-bit, 48 kHz audio.

Connecting the unit via Ethernet enables you to use the included control software to make adjustments to fit your needs, as well as power the unit via PoE (Power-over-Ethernet). DIP switch controls and a USB configuration port are also available on the front panel.

If you buy the quad to 12G and 12G to quad, can you send 4 independent 3G video signals on one 12G RG6 cable?

Yes, however... All 4 signals must be the same and you need 4 signals in to get it to behave reliably. I wanted this to work with my setup to replace the Multiview 4 due to the frame delay and being locked in to 29.97 on the Multiview. I was able to get it to work as long as I had all the signals coming from similar devices. The issue for me is that sometimes I have a mix of different cameras and signal from a teleprompter that can be hard to get the exact same signal out of each device. The solution I wastoying with is to get 4 updowncross units to ensure the Quad to 12g always got the same signal no matter what was plugged in. I think at this point I'm going to wait for a Multiview device to come out that can take 4x 1080 signals and combine them to a 12g 4k signal that is compatible with 23.98.

Yes, you can convert an SDI signal to optical fiber using the Mini Converter, and use the Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Optical to HDMI 12G Converter on the other end to receive the signal and convert it to HDMI output, and vice versa. You cannot. this devise will just send to multiple destinations. compression must be adjusted in camera in order to send a 3g signal if camera is capable of doing so.

Yes it can as long as the video resolution/frame rate that you are sending into this product is supported by 3G SDI.
