No unfortunately this will not work for the CFExpress Type B cards. Only the CFast 2.0.

Yes, Lexar CR1 Professional Workflow CFast 2.0 USB 3.0 Reader is compatible with all Samsung Galaxy Book. The speed at which the files download or upload will fluctuate between USB 2.0 and 3.0 depending on your computer capabilities. There is a USB 3.0 cable included in the box to connect the reader to your computer.

Can you advise of a protective case for this?

Sorry, we do not have the ability to measure the Reader itself. But based on what we do know, the Pelican 1050 Clear Micro Case (Black) B&H # PE1050MCCB is a good possibility. I would measure the reader once you have it and put it up against the 6.31 x 3.68 x 2.75 (16 x 9.3 x 7.0cm) (LxWxD) dimensions of the 1050. If no go, this at least gets you into the ball park.
