    Lexar CR1 reviews

CR1 Professional Workflow CFast 2.0 USB 3.0 Reader is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Yet This is the only card reader that I've had that reads every time I plug it into my late 2013 MacPro! Thank You Lexar, and Thank You B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great CFast reader Does what it's supposed to and works great! I'm using it with a Lexar 64GB 3500x CFast and 1DXII and no issues at all. It comes with a rubber faceplate cover that can be put on when the reader is not in use to keep dust out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does the job It is what it is. I did play 4k clips directly off the card and did not experience any lag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid reader Great brand with rock solid performance. Only real complaint is that I feel like the unit could have been made a bit smaller. It just sounds hollow when I tap it. I know they're making all their readers the same size to fit into the Workflow modules, so I get that. Other than that this has been a solid reader for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Corrupt Media The reader works great when transferring from your first Cfast card. I use the BM Ursa camera. However, on a multi-card shoot, it has corrupted the second card on more than one occasion losing valuable media. It appears that when I eject a card from the reader it does not necessarily eject, it will mount it again within seconds. Unless, you are very careful, you can corrupt your second Cfast card when you insert it into the reader because the reader thinks that it is still the first Cfast card. This has the effect of replacing the file allocation table on the card and rendering all of your media corrupt. This has happened to me twice with this reader and on different computers. One of my cards became unusable. I lost media the first time and then the second time it happened, I hired a company Aero-Quartet to retrieve the lost media, somewhat successfully but cost hundreds of dollars. However, I do feel very fortunate that I did not need to suffer the embarrassment and expense of reshooting a full day's work which would've cost thousands. None of the off-the-shelf media retrieval software worked in either case. My recommendation is that if you decide to use this reader, unplug it from the computer after you eject before you insert your next card and then plug it back in. I am going to order a different reader, however.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and well made It's my first CFast reader, and I'm impressed how quick it is. Very well made, even has a special cover to protect the opening against dust when not in use. Nice!
