Xcellon WPM-20R overview

  • 1Description

The Xcellon Wireless Presenter is a handheld controller that enables users to move around freely while presenting a PowerPoint or Keynote slideshow. This device is equipped with a laser pointer and features several enhancements that imitate mouse and keyboard commands. Users can accurately control the cursor, right- and left-click objects, navigate slides, draw and erase using the pen and eraser tool, and more, all without the hassle or distraction of wires.

The Wireless Presenter operates with a 2.4 GHz radio signal that enables precise control of your computer from up to 65' away. It offers plug-and-play technology for both Mac OS X and Windows computers, with no additional driver setup or installation required. Simply insert the nano-USB receiver into your computer's USB port and you're ready to go.

The Wireless Presenter runs on two AAA batteries, which are included with the device.

Wireless Cursor Control
The gyroscopic mouse gives you control over your computer's cursor for remote operation. Use the Wireless Presenter the same way you'd use a mouse: open and close apps, switch presentations, and even play a video for your audience. Left- and right-click functions are also built into the device.
Laser Pointer
Keep your audience engaged throughout your presentation. With a single button press you can activate the red laser pointer that lets you interact with your slides.
Draw and Erase for PowerPoint on Windows
The pen and eraser tool are integral features for anyone giving a PowerPoint presentation to an audience. Illustrate your points and visually emphasize elements on the screen. When you're done, the eraser tool removes drawings without affecting your slides.
Switch Presenter Display and Show/Hide Cursor for Keynote on Mac
The Switch Presenter Display button enables you to swap the position of the presenter display and the secondary display during a Keynote presentation. The Show/Hide Cursor button allows you to control when the cursor appears.
PowerPoint or Keynote
The Wireless Presenter has dedicated control buttons for both PowerPoint (for Windows) and Keynote programs, so whatever software you are using, the Wireless Presenter will run your presentation.
Plug and Play
The Wireless Presenter is a USB-compliant, plug-and-play device, meaning it's easy to set up and use and doesn't require any additional drivers to install and operate. Simply plug the nano-receiver into an available USB port and you're ready to go.
Storage Compartment and Carrying Case
The special storage compartment in the back of the Wireless Presenter houses the USB receiver for safekeeping, so you won't have to worry about it being lost when you're traveling to and from your presentation. A traveling case is also included with your Wireless Presenter, so you can safely carry it with you wherever you go.
Extension Cable
Electronic interference can occur when there is electronic equipment between the Wireless Presenter and the USB receiver. The included USB extension cord allows for line-of-sight access between the device and the receiver to facilitate flawless operation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An excellent remote for teaching! I have owned this presentation remote for about two weeks and I like it a lot. It has some features that really set it apart from others I have used. In the past I have used a Logitech R800 for my teaching presentations. This review will compare and contrast both of these models and take a look at why I like each of them. First and foremost, the Xcellon has way more buttons. This is really nice when you are trying to do more complex functions from the back of the room without walking up front to actually use your computer. Compared to the R800, the functionality is much higher. The Xcellon even gives you the ability to control your mouse by tilting the remote in different directions. This makes it possible to do almost anything you could do with a computer mouse anywhere in the room. Awesome! There are only a couple of downsides to this remote. First is the laser. When you're teaching in a large, well-lit room the red laser can easily become hard to see. When compared to the R800's green laser, there is no comparison, the R800 wins, hands down. Also the build quality. Compared to the R800, this remote feels a bit cheap. But, for about half the price, this is to be expected! Overall, if I had to choose between this or the R800, I would go with this (Xcellon). It has more features and a much lower price tag. All things considered it's an excellent teaching remote. Disclaimer: I was given this remote for the purpose of writing this review. This doesn't influence my opinion of this product in the slightest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great remote for a great price This is a nice presentation remote. The little cubby in the back of the remote for the USB is super convenient, so I know I won't lose the USB wireless receiver. The laser pointer is great to have and the mouse-control function is super useful when presenting, but the mouse is a little bit wonky when it juts around the screen at a different speed than my hand is moving. The right and left click buttons for the mouse function are easy to use and locate when using the remote, and are super useful! I also appreciate that I can turn the mouse function on and off, because otherwise that would get annoying. One thing that's unique about this remote compared to others I've used is that it has buttons for either a white blank screen or a black blank screen, which I think is pretty cool. Not sure about the usefulness of a white blank screen, but I'm excited to find out. Also the up-down-left-right button is responsive and advances to the next or last slide with no lag, which is good. I wish it came with batteries from a brand I trust. It comes with two Nai Li Wang Alkaline AAAs, but seeing as I've never used that brand before, I worry that they might not last long, so although it's a minor point, I'd prefer Duracell or Energizer or some other mainstream brand of batteries. That being said, I'm grateful it came with any batteries at all. I use Apple Keynote, so I can't use the awesome write-and-erase on your Powerpoint function, and therefore can't comment on that function, but I might start using PPT for that capability! The only other thing I might comment on is that the remote is pretty lightweight, which is beneficial in a way, but in my opinion, I'd rather have one that weighs a few ounces more so I don't feel like it will go flying out of my hand. All in all, this remote is really great, and I don't have any complaints about it that really matter in the grand scheme of things. It's a great choice! Disclaimer: This remote was sent to me for free for the purposes of writing this review, but that doesn't influence my opinions at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option for laser pointer and presenter great product and very good quality. Have been using for about a week and very happy with this purchase. Laser bean is strong and visible in different lighting conditions. I don't use all functions on this device, just passing slides and the laser bean. Overall, great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it works great I am going to use this with a teleprompter so I can change pages without touching the computer. also it has a very nice a compact usb receptor that works flawlessly with windows 10 and it has a small compartment inside of remote control to keep it after use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value! It does whatever the higher priced pointers do. My only complaint: the battery cover is a little frustrating to remove - but that's why we have fingernails.
