Tenba Canvas 13 Slim overview

  • 1Description

Functional yet attractive, the gray Cooper Luxury Canvas 13 Slim Camera Bag with Black Leather Accents from Tenba is designed to store and protect your mirrorless gear, 13" laptop and related accessories. The back of the bag features a zippered pocket for a laptop. A versatile bag, the insert is removable for converting the bag from photo usage to a carryall. For organizing gear, there are touch-fastening, padded dividers and two, slip-in pockets on the inserts exterior. Photographers will appreciate the large front flap, which closes with quieter-than-normal, touch-fastening fabric. Bound to be popular, the front flap has a top zipper for access to gear without having to open the flap, and an exterior, zippered, accessory pocket for your cellphone. For added security, there's a secondary zipper under the top of the flap. Lifting the flap reveals exterior pockets for storing a variety of useful items such as cables, filters, and more.

Slim side pockets are expandable for storing a water bottle or lens up to a 24-70mm f/2.8. Carry the Cooper with the padded shoulder strap, removable hand strap, or attach to the trolley handle on your rolling luggage. The beauty of this bag is in the numerous details that include hand-riveted, leather zipper pulls, peach-waxed cotton canvas, full-grain leather accents and trim, and a silicone-coated, water-resistant, ripstop, nylon interior. For added equipment protection as well as helping to prevent scratching furniture, the bottom of the bag is trimmed in leather. The Cooper comes with a reversible silver/black rain cover. The black side is good for stealth, and the silver side helps keep the bag cooler by reflecting sunlight.

    Tenba Canvas 13 Slim reviews

Cooper Luxury Canvas 13 Slim Camera Bag with Leather Accents (Gray) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome all around bag Previously, I had used Billingham Hadley bags for camera carrying. This new Tenba in my opinion is so much better than tham in almost every way. This bag holds a good amount of my Fuji X gear, my 13 MacBook Pro (non-retina) and the side pockets are usable to hold water bottles or small tripods. The build quality is very good and the silent velcro actually works as intended. The bag conforms to your body when carrying better than the Billingham's and thus is more comfortable. This is now my main carry bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for walking around traveling light I bought this bag and the Cooper 13 DSLR, to try and split my load on each side. It didn't work out, so I use this bag when I want to travel light. All of the stuff I put in on my review of the DSLR bag applies here. But the comments on this bag are that it is very narrow, which if you are traveling with a couple of lenses and maybe a flash is very good. I can manage to get two Olympus E-M1 mirrorless cameras with lenses attached and two other small lenses in the bag, and maybe a small flash. But I use it most for going out with just one body and 2 or 3 lenses. For that it works well because it forces me to travel lighter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very refined quality bag Regardless of my English capability, please let me try to express my impression from Tokyo. Tenba has been my great assistant for about 30 years. Now this Tenba Cooper 13 Slim has the similar style as 211, but it has great progress from the predecessor. It is designed and built very carefully, and you can feel the quality of it even by stitches with materials. And I found it fits perfectly with my two new cameras, Lumix GH5 with new Leica Vario zoom 12-60 F2.8-F4 and Lumix GX7 85(GX7 MKII in Japan) with Leica 15mm. This bag is tall for to put just these cameras, and under the dividers I put batteries and extra lens that are not used always.Putting 2 cameras frees from changing lens and 3/4 cameras make it easy to do. The outer materials are unexpectedly has cotton canvas feeling with frost color. It looks plain but rather unnoticeable, that is good when you don't want to show off. It is rather the bag for a Ninja. Top zipper helps you to pull out you camera without opening the lid all the way. Amazingly, velcro for opening the lid has silent function. By pulling the lid down when opening, it opens without the Ziiip ! noise. Adjustable shoulder belt has a very comfortable pad and it helps. I learned the comfortableness can be so different by pad quality. Also, the bag has a flexible removable handle. It helps when you move your bag without holding the long belt. Some other bags has handle also, but mostly they are off centered and you are not satisfied. The bag uses natural leather bottom that is water proofed it says. It is gorgeous but I feel it makes the bag slightly heavier. And only, it would be nicer if the length of this handle can be adjusted. The side zippered bags are smart too. I put mini tripod by opening the zipper and it makes tight closing. You can put small water bottle too. It has more to tell you, but I feel happy and enjoying the high quality finish of the bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An almost perfect bag for me I started using this when I travel to Japan in March, to take photos of Cherry blossom and other iconic scenes of Japan. It really helps in my travel photography, and also during certain working days which I can do photography after office hours. My normal photographic gears include a Fujifilm X-Pro2, XF35mm F2 prime, XF50-140mm F2.8 telephoto, an iPad, 2x spare batteries, and some small cleaning kits. Also the expandable side zip pockets are very useful which I am able to fit an umbrella or a 350ml bottle. Can be 5 stars if it can perfectly fit a Lenovo X-Carbon 3rd Gen, if not for the sharps corners of the laptop. Otherwise, I just leave the laptop compartment open.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient but expensive This bag has enough pockets and compartments to hold 1 or 2 mirrorless cameras and 3-5 lenses. The padded insert is nice, but if divided vertically, lower compartments cannot be easily accessed. The upper content needs to be removed first. The laptop pocket can hold 13 MacBook Pro.On the negatives: the shoulder strap feels cheap, a bit thin. The bag is not rigid enough. Without a laptop it bends around and becomes a bit curved. Too expensive for what it is. It should cost around $.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from For fashionistas, not shooters I ordered the Cooper 13 Slim as well as the Cooper 8 and returned both. They are indisputably great-looking well-constructed bags. Style does matter to me (hence I was willing to pay the high price) but not at the expense of functionality. They are stiff, narrow, and quite difficult to work out of. The 13 requires you to stack lenses on top of each other with padding in between (to use full capacity). Seriously? Who can change lenses like that in the real world? The 8 is the same size as the ThinkTank Retrospective 5 but seems to hold about half as much gear. If you just want to haul your expensive gear from place to place and look sexy doing it, the Cooper is an option for you. However if you actually want to use the bag while shooting, I would avoid these bags. I ended up returning both and buying a ThinkTank Retrospective 6. Now that's a shooters bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bag for me Initially I must confess to being a bag-aholic. Over the years I probably have gone through 20-30 different camera bags. Since switching to a mirrorless camera system the need for a larger shoulder bag or backpack has thankfully diminished Most recently I have been very satisfied with another messenger bag. BUT I am always on the search for something just a bit better. A month or so ago Tenba announced their Cooper Luxury Canvas 13 Slim bag. I watched their video and was able to catch a couple good online reviews which directed my attention to the need for another change. 03 While the bag is just slightly bigger than the bag I had been using, the extra inch or two here and there makes all the difference to comfortably carry my camera (Sony A7r plus 3-5 extra lenses. Additional zippered pockets are well placed to carry the extras such as a Color Checker, filters, Tablet, cleaning equipment. Their divisions help to keep these extras segregated and thus easier to access. The near silent velcro main flap opener is also a welcome extra, as well as the included rain cover. For my needs right now maybe (?????) this bag will end my search for the perfect bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag I had a Tenba messenger bag for years and loved it. I bought this bag to replace the old bag (after 8 years time was catching up with it) and I use it primarily as a daily messenger bag for carrying my 13 MacBook Air, a compact camera, chargers, etc. The bag is very well made from the stitching to the materials (and the durable leather bottom is well done) and Tenba puts a lot of effort into providing the necessary pouches and compartments for holding everything you need to carry day to day. The ability to open the bag from the top without having to open the entire front flap is great and allows me access to anything inside the main compartment. The almost soundless Velcro is also ingenious (so much better than other silencer systems). The included insert for the main compartment to store your camera, lens, etc. is well made and fits well (I don't use it since this bag functions as a daily briefcase) and should be able to hold any mirrorless camera and accompanying lens (a full-size DSLR might be a snug fit but it could work). My only complaint is that the laptop compartment is outside the main compartment against your thigh or back (depending on how you like to carry the bag) and I feel my laptop may not be well protected there (the main compartment is not large enough to carry both the laptop and a fully loaded insert with a camera and such although an iPad Air should fit okay). The laptop compartment is also a very snug fit for my MacBook Air and anything larger (such as a Windows 13 laptop) may not fit depending on its footprint. I basically bought a protected laptop sleeve instead and I keep my laptop in that in the main compartment (remember I use this as a messenger bag only and not for carrying my camera equipment). I'm giving this bag five stars since it meets all of my needs and I'm quiet happy with it. I'll be using this bag for many years to come.
