The OPERA P15 2-Way Passive Speaker from dB Technologies is designed for sound-reinforcement applications in small-to-medium venues. The OPERA P15 Speaker is equipped with a 15" woofer, a 3" voice coil, a 1" compression driver (1.75" voice coil), and is loaded with an 80/65 x 60° asymmetric horn. It has passive crossover filters with a slope of 12 dB/oct for the low-pass, 18 dB/oct for the high-pass, and a self-resetting thermal protection circuit (PTC) on the driver to prevent protracted overloading. The high-frequency transducer is also protected from overloads through a self-resetting thermal protection circuit.
The asymmetrical horn design delivers similar effective coverage for small applications. The high-frequency horn is narrower on top to bundle sound and throw it over greater distances. It flares out at the bottom to achieve a wide pattern of throw. This compensates for high-frequency loss as sound travels further from the source and distributes the signal more uniformly across all audience areas.
The OPERA P15 Speaker box design features enlarged bass-reflex openings that, in addition to creating a stylish look to the speaker, cut unwanted wind noise by up to 50% and deliver enhanced, tight, and focused bass response. The speaker is made of reinforced polypropylene while the acoustic components are protected by a 1.2mm metal grille with internal foam, which shields them from mud and moisture.
The polypropylene satisfies rigorous quality standards in the production of professional acoustic speakers. This material, because of its strength and lightness, makes it possible to create products with innovative design that are suitable for various fields of application.
The P15 Speaker has a multi-functional housing that offers many placement options, such as on the floor as a monitor, thanks to the 43° angle of its back shell. The speaker is provided with a top handle and two side handles, which make it extremely convenient to transport.
