Sunpak 6630LX Tripod Reviews
What you pay for....
One year later it's going in the trash. I've been sticking it together with duct tape for about 10 months of light indoor use, but I've now bought a decent quality Tripod. In retrospect I should have spent the money. Arguably is worth the money, but I'd argue against it.
Suits my needs.
This is not a great tripod. It is what I was expecting when I ordered it. So my needs are for it to set outside several nights in a row, Exposed to snow, rain, and whatever the elements bring, conditions in which I don't want to place my good tripods or light stands. The column crank is smooth, the leg brace on the column has a twist lock which helps steady the legs, and the bottom hook can receive extra weight to keep the rig from blowing away. The head is primarily plastic including the camera mount thus I would not trust this tripod with expensive slr cameras and lenses.
Arrived broken
The packing material was perfect. The original bow showed no damage. Everything was packaged right. Sadly the plastic center post was broken off and the plastic top part that went into one leg was snapped off. B&H accepted photos and immediately refunded the cost. Great job by B&H customer service. Advice, do not buy super cheap on tripods. Too much brittle plastic.
Well made
This is a very nice tripod. It is strong! If you are going to use it for video where you will be moving the video camera around during live shooting, the head not smooth and fluid. Great for still photography though. You can use it for video, but just loosen the adjustments and it will work with video.
So Far, So Good
I was looking for an inexpensive tripod that would be easy take with me and would replace another inexpensive tripod that had seen better days. This one showed up in the Deal Zone so I placed an order. The first one arrived damaged with the head broken into several pieces. B&H's outer packaging seemed good so I suspect that it was damaged prior to them receiving it. A quick email with a couple of pictures to B&H's customer service and a new one was on the way in short order. 5 stars for B&H CS. The second tripod arrived in good condition. It seems like it will do fairly well for what I bought it for and what it cost me.
Good inexpensive tripod
Bubble levels a plus.
Great product!
Incredibly smooth to rotate, lightweight, and is really sturdy. Can't wait to take it our on the road!
Broken on Arrival
On April 16th 2020 when I ordered this, it was advertised for $16 on deep discount from $57. When the sale was over, the price was $26 and not $57. I would not be angry about a cheap $16 tripod that arrived with a broken head that I had to epoxy together. But I am angry about BH Photo pretending that this item was ever worth $57. It is an inferior ultra light weight product and not medium duty as advertised. There is one positive - it comes with a smart phone adapter which can be used independently of the tripod. It's a small consolation, but worth mentioning because the product description does not. Overall, if it did not break in shipping I would say that it's worth $16 all day but not more. Because it broke at the head, I have to advise to avoid and buy a better one.
