The plate is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a scratch-resistant black anodized finish. It has pre-drilled holes set at common intervals in standard sizes with separations of 1.5" and 3", with a long 1/4" slot that is ideal for mounting and properly balancing a DSLR and long lens for wide-field astrophotography.

iOptron 8422-178 Overview

iOptron offers this 7" long Dovetail Plate for mounting small to medium optical tube assemblies (OTAs), DSLRs, or other accessories on mounts or secondary systems with ease. The plate is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a scratch-resistant black anodized finish. It has pre-drilled holes set at common intervals in standard sizes with separations of 1.5" and 3", with a long 1/4" slot that is ideal for mounting and properly balancing a DSLR and long lens for wide-field astrophotography.

Required Screws
A 1/4"-20 cap screw is also required. The length of the screw should be between 1/2" and 5/8", depending on the mounting hole depth on your camera body.

The dovetail plate is well made. However, its extremely frustrating no screw is included to mount the camera or telescope, especially for nearly $50!

I like it, fits my Canon camera just fine. I wish the pin would line up but the 1/4-20 mount fits snug.

What length of attachment screws will fit here, to go through the plate into a camera tripod socket?

Indeed, the screw head radius on the BH# MAR116.138 screw is too big to fit into the slot on the back of the plate. I've tried 4 different styles from various suppliers. What a pain. I'm returning the iOptron vixen plate.
