Priv Priv Reviews

BlackBerry 32GB Smartphone (Unlocked, Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its a good phone but... I love this phone, but read before buying it. So the phone is great, super fast, no hiccups, enough space and memory, wonderful camera, and a physical keyboard from BlackBerry which in my humble opinion are the bests keyboards for phones. I use it very normal, each time I need to type a lot of words in any chat program or writing an email I pull out the real keyboard and start typing, otherwise I end up using the virtual one, make and receive phone calls, have used the torch (flashlight) a few times, and have used it for a fair amount of time on games, and charge it once a day at nighttime. After a month the phone received the android 6.0.1 update, and after that I noticed some problems with the keyboard, I tough it was software related due to the recent patch and waited for another patch to fix the issue. The issue is that I couldn't type sometimes, and then after some attempts it would go back to normal and function perfectly. After 1 month and 28 days of purchase the keyboard died, the phone has been treated very well, no falls, no using it as a hammer or anything out of the ordinary for a phone. Since it has been more than 30 days from purchase B&H told me they were not able to help me with anything and also told me to instead contact Blackberry for the one-year-warranty the phone should have with the manufacturer. After contacting Blackberry they told me the issue was a hardware problem with the keyboard, so an update would not fix the phone. They told me they would contact me back on how to proceed with the repairing of the keyboard, and also told me that I may be charged for the repair of the phone since it has been sold by a third party, in this case B&H. In my case, I wish I had bought this phone directly from Blackberry so they would not be considering to charge me for a repair of a faulty phone, a fault that took a bit more than 30 days to manifest itself. I know B&H gives you options to add additional warranty time, so if you really want to buy this phone from B&H add that extra warranty time and avoid yourself a bad time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most innovative smartphone of 2015 I'm a bit disappointed that this device isn't running blackberry's unbelievably good touch OS (BB10 OS) - because that is hands down the best on the market right now, by quite a distance. Apart from its achilles heel - the lack of apps... Which the PRIV solves! For most smartphone users they feel the need to have apps, and you definitely won't have a lack of them on this device. But in general - great feel in the hand + build quality, good battery life, great screen, micro SD slot, wireless charging the list goes on and on. PHYSICAL KEYBOARD! only other real gripe for me is it could be physically smaller, but again for most people - not an issue. if you are in the market for a high end android phone - just check out the reviews on youtube! PRIV is the way to go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BlackBerry Priv supports very large additional memory cards If you're looking at this beautiful device and thinking of shooting 4K Video at 30FPS you'll really want to visit here at B&H - That 200gb card is a great addition to have for the PRIV and is fully supported by exFAT for BlackBerry which is available on the Google Play Store already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BlackBerry nailed it with this.. A very good phone - I had to purchase my own phone for work so went for the PRIV as it was the only phone with a Keyboard and I am a heavy remote emailer. The keyboard is almost as good as the Keyboard on the BBY classic and took a few weeks of transition until I was fully comfortable. The screen and camera performance are at least as good and they need to be... This smartphone doesn't leave me wanting for anything or anyway frustrated. The build quality feels very good and well put together with high quality components.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from couldn't be happier First time I ever paid full price for a phone but I had to have it. Love love love it!!!! I missed having the physical keyboard so I knew this was the right phone for me. Everything transferred from my old BlackBerry. I thought it was huge at first but I got used to it real quick. No more BlackBerry App World....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BlackBerry shell with Android OS My decision to buy a Priv was because Facebook stopped supporting the BB10 OS. My choices were to migrate to Android or iOS. Since BlackBerry brought out the Priv with Android, I thought that it was the logical decision to go with Android because I could stick with BlackBerry. The problem is that a number of features on Facebook (e.g. contact sync and calendar sync) are not available on Android either, so I didn't really achieve my goal. A number of BlackBerry apps are also not available, or are downgraded, but I am sincerely hoping that BlackBerry will work on improving these once most people have switched over to the Android OS. I did however get access to a vast number of apps that were unavailable on BB10, and the user interface of many of them is better than similar apps on BB10. It took a while to set up the apps and sync them with Google Drive since BlackBerry Link is not compatible with Android, but hopefully now that it is done, it will be easier to switch phones in the future. Also, the specs of the Priv are much better than the Apple i6 Plus, and it is cheaper, so it is a much better phone in general. Screen resolution and processing power seem to be major improvements over the Z10 and Z30. Battery life seems to be an issue, but it looks like things are improving now that all the initial setups and updates are complete. Although the physical keyboard is a nice feature, I have become used to a touch screen on the Z10 and Z30, so this would probably only be a requirement for people coming from BlackBerry Passport. The keyboard does have some neat features and advantages. In conclusion, I chose this phone because support for BB10 OS is becoming limited, and I am happy with Android so far, but I would like to see an improvement in the BlackBerry apps that I became used to on my Z10 and Z30. I would recommend this phone to people switching from previous BlackBerry products, or for previous BlackBerry users who have already switched to the Android OS on other phones and would like to revert back to BlackBerry.
