    Synology RT1900ac reviews

    RT1900ac Dual-Band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Router, Would definitely buy again!!! After reading a lot of reviews and opinions about and AC router I decided to go with the Sinology RT1900ac. This router wasn't rated the best on range, but I've got a 2400 square foot home and I have great throughput everywhere. It even works in my workshop which is in a separate building 200 ft away. My range is all I can ask for or want. The router is easy to set up and the UI is excellent. This router is at least 5 times better then my old N router. So far the reliability has been excellent and it hasn't dropped my internet at all, it just plain works. As I said it's not rated the best, but you really can't do any better for your home network.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Unit - not quite there First off, the unit goes to a wizard that want to configure just part of the network, it does not let you set the IP to static on first pass. The unit I received did not have the latest firmware, on the first 3 attempts to configure it, each time the unit completed it would stop allowing access to it. On the forth try it worked, so first thing I did was to upgrade the firmware. Biggest issue the VPN is not what I expected, unless I missed it, I did not see anything stating it would not support box to box VPN, so that reduced it's usefulness to me. Overall, it is Synology, so I expect it to work well moving forward as a simple wireless access point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid I regret having purchased the new Synology Router (RT1900ac). The moment you make changes to IP address it stops working for me and I cannot get back into the UI anymore. Multiple attempts and many wasted hours trying to get it to work to no avail. I made the mistake of not opening and testing it when it arrived but waited 2 months before opening it. That means I am not able to return it and have thus wasted $170 on this. Synology support takes 2-3 days to respond to each support question and they are anything but able to help. I give up. I have just purchased the ASUS RT-AC68U router instead and that works as intended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Synology RT1900ac Router The Synology RT1900ac router is an excellent router. I've been operating servers from Synology for many years, and have been pleased with them, both hardware and DSM software. I recently replaced my aging Netgear router with the Synology RT1900ac router, and am not disappointed. The SRM software is relatively easy to use, although it may require some knowledge of networking technology to fully appreciate. It provides access to the essential functionality to be expected from a modern router. The Wi-Fi coverage is adequate. A very good value at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Expert Router, Great Intro NAS I've owned a Synology NAS for 7 years now. It has been one of the best technology purchases I ever made. This is for two reasons: the excellent build of the hardware and the company's support of the legacy hardware in their software upgrades. Based on my experiences, I had to purchase the RT1900ac router when available. It has not disappointed. You will not find a router with a better UI. It is simple enough for all users yet still has the detailed configurations for the expert needs. In addition to its router capabilities, the RT1900ac offers (with additional storage connected) a cheap way to experience a Synology NAS for new users. It doesn't offer all of a Synology NAS's full capabilities, but you get their Media, Download, DNS, Radius, and VPN Servers. These are my mainly used Synology packages. The RT1900ac will impress you with both the device itself and Synology. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Router This router is awesome. I read some reviews from other sites and was a little hesitant. However, when I got it installed all I can say is WOW!!!. The coverage is so much better than my old Dlink DIR-655. Not faulting it but it just goes to show how much routers have improved over the last few years. 1. The UI is a nice welcome to the routers of the past, easy to setup and offers an array of features that will fill most any need. 2. My internet and web pages sped up by about a factor of 10, very nice. 3. The functions of this router seem to be well thought out for the most part. 4. Having the guest wifi function is nice as is the wake on lan and many other features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from installed two, working very well as a preview, I am a professional industrial network engineer, so I cannot speak to the gaming community, and am not grading this based on blazing speed, etc....only looking at stability and raw functionality, which is well above par. I'm not sure about the negative reviews of this product. I have been thru many routers, Asus, Netgear, etc, and this one is the best so far. I have two of them set up, one at my place, one at a customer of mine. We are using the Synology VPN, Synology DDNS client, and many of the other features. Attached USB storage works well. The only thing that does not seem to work is wireless access point mode, so that is not good, but we don't need that function. Hopefully will be sorted out in future firmware updates. But overall, I really, really like this router. One note: after making certain changes in the settings, you have to reboot to take effect. If router seems to hang after making changes, reboot it and log back in

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost there, 5Mhz range is poor The software in the router is very good. Easy to use and pretty configurable. It isn't business class hardware so don't expect those types of settings (vlan, etc.). Throughput through the router is good, I haven't run tests yet. I really like the fact the HDD attached to the USB 3.0 port support Time Machine allowing me to backup my MacBook. My biggest complaint about the router is the 5Mhz range, it is very poor. My bedroom is 40 feet from the router (through a floor) and 5Mhz range is spotty at best, event with the beam forming. The 2.4 frequency range is better than my old routers, and am quite happy with that. I am not sure I would recommend this to someone because of the 5Mhz range. Other than that it is a solid router.
