Quantum Instruments Qflash TRIO Reviews

Synchronized cord issue

When you attach the Quantum Qflash CoPilot in your hot shoe it tightens solidly with a wheel lock and eliminates any synch cord from camera to flash head with three radio frequencies for synch and other controls that actually make the unit a pro worthy piece of equipment. This is the way Quantum meant the unit be used!

question

will this trigger a flash connected to quantum radio slave 4i?
Asked by: Anthony S.
No, the flash has built into it a FreeXwire radio system. It is a different system than the Radio slave 4i.If you have a Canon speedlight you will need a kit with a Freeewire receiver, Quantum QLINK for Canon with Freewire Receiver Kit B&H # QUFWCR (B&H Kit).

question

From what I am reading this flash will not work in conjunction with my other Canon 600 EX-RT flash units using only the Canon RF system. So I cannot control this flash from my Canon 5D MarkIII in a group with other Canon 600 EX-RT Speedlites....Is that a correct statement?? I don't really want to buy another trigger to be able to control all my lights.
Asked by: Rick
Yes, as far as I know, it cannot be combined and controlled with the 600 EX-RT flash system without an additional trigger(s).

Do these flashes fire without overheating and ...

Do these flashes fire without overheating and shutting down when connected to AC power? For example, every 3 seconds over 4 hours? I am making a 3D model image and require a light that will not turn itself off after 500 flashes.
Asked by: Carlie
Generally, these flashes would not over heat when fired rapidly, mainly because they lack a modeling lamp. However, since you require AC power, you would be better off with a flash head which has a fan built into it, such as the Interfit Honey Badger 320Ws Compact Flash Head B&H # INHB320. https://bhpho.to/2WWTknI

With the new EZpro firmware update, how to you access the HSS function?
Asked by: Mark
HSS – high speed sync. HSS is available in Manual, QTTL, and QTTLwR modes, for both the on-camera and remote TRIO. Off-camera flash When using a remote in HSS, there is no need to set any options. HSS will automatically be selected when your shutter speed is set above 250. On-camera flash Canon users – Select HSS option if you want to enable High Speed Sync on your camera. Nikon users – If you’ve selected high speed sync on the menu of your camera, high speed sync will automatically be selected on the TRIO when your shutter speed is set above 250.

question

I have the Turbo 3 battery packs. Are they compatible with this unit?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Qflash TRIO is compatible with the Quantum Turbo 3. You would need the CQ2 Power Cable (B&H # QUCQ2) to attach the battery to the TRIO.
