MSR created their 1.7L Reactor Camp Stove System as a complete cooking solution for 2-4 people by designing a burner and pot that work perfectly and efficiently together. The system's efficiency begins with a pressure-regulating valve that maintains a consistent fuel flow throughout the life of the fuel canister. Next, a large radiant flame disperses heat over a large surface area without the common 'jet' of flame which has a tendency to lose heat to the environment - especially on windy days.
The radiant flame's efficiency is maximized by the specially-designed 1.7 liter pot. The bottom of the pot fits over the burner to prevent air flow between the two which can cause heat loss. Heat-sinks on the bottom of the increase the overall surface area and maximize the heat exchange from burner to pot. All these design features equate to a fast boil time of just 3 minutes for 1L of water without using excessive amounts of fuel. To go with the pot is a BPA-free lid that is outfitted with a strainer lid to make cooking food like pasta or ramen easy. The burner and user-supplied fuel canister are designed to fit in the pot for compact storage, packing, and transport. This 1.7L Reactor ships without fuel, so you will need to provide your own before you can get cooking.
