Outfit your power or sailboat with the Garmin GPSMAP 547 Chartplotter to make navigation easy on your future trips. This navigation device has a 10 Hz GPS/GLONASS receiver that refreshes your position and heading up to 10 times per second so you always have accurate data. It comes pre-loaded with both BlueChart g2 coastal charts and LakeVu HD inland charts you can navigate almost any waterway. The data set even includes tide tables for more efficient cruising.
Garmin Auto Guidance plots a course for you by searching through relevant charts to create a safe virtual pathway. The software helps you avoid low bridges, shallow water, and other charted obstructions for safe passage. You can review hazard points along your calculated path to be aware of risk well in advance. Tweak your route by inserting "via" points at interim stops or landmarks along your desired route to see the sights or visit a port of call, and calculate arrival times at any point on your route to help with things like bridge openings. This system is compatible with the optional Garmin autopilot for a hand's free cruise.
The GPSMAP 547 features Wi-Fi connectivity to take advantage of other portable electronic devices that may be onboard. The Garmin Helm app allows you to view and control this chartplotter on your iOS or Android device from almost anywhere on the vessel. Download and use the BlueChart Mobile app on your iOS device to plan marine routes and transfer them using Wi-Fi. You can also transfer data to other brands of GPS using industry standard GPX files that are uploadable to a microSD card using one of the two available slots.
There are a number of other useful marine systems and networks contained in this unit. NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 ports are built-in to work with other systems on your vessel. You can track other ships using AIS with optional equipment, and receive Digital Selective Calling from your DSC-capable VHF radios. It is SiriusXM Weather & Radio compatible with an optional subscription so you can listen to music far from terrestrial antennas. You can play that feed through your Garmin Meteor audio system or Fusion-Link compatible marine radios.
Unlock a number of useful sailing features with the addition of the optional gWind sensor. These features include laylines, enhanced wind rose, heading and course-over-ground lines, true wind data fields and tide/current/time slider. Gauge displays are designed to provide important need-to-know information at a glance, including true and apparent wind angle, set and drift, true or apparent wind speed, horizontal or vertical graphs, and a data bar with customizable data fields.
