• 1Description

Enjoy dynamic handheld performance and a "pure" Android experience with the white Google Nexus 5X 16GB Smartphone from LG. This smartphone features a hexa-core 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 2 GB of RAM. It also comes equipped with 16GB of storage. The integrated USB Type-C interface allows you to connect the device for mass-storage purposes, data transfer, and also serves as a fast-charging port.

The Nexus 5X houses a 5.2" IPS LCD display, which is designed to deliver robust imagery and color depth. Its 1920 x 1080 native screen resolution lets you watch Full HD content without pixel loss. Additionally, the Nexus 5X features a powerful dual-camera array: a 12.3MP rear camera with a pixel capture size of 1.55 µm and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing lens. The rear camera's larger pixel size is designed to absorb more light, producing sharp photos even in low-light conditions.

The Nexus 5X is also well-equipped for wireless communication. It features Bluetooth v4.2 technology for pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi for high-speed Internet connectivity. NFC technology is built-in and enables you to connect to compatible devices for wireless content sharing. GPS with GLONASS is also on-board for using Google Location and Maps services. The Nexus 5X is equipped with a 2700mAh battery, which can deliver up to 4 hours of use from only 10 minutes of charging.

Note: The LGH790 is the North American Variant of the Nexus 5X. It will run on any GSM network that uses cell frequencies supported by the device, including AT&T and T-Mobile. It will also work with certain CDMA carriers, such as Verizon and Sprint. Current Verizon SIM cards can be transferred to the new device, though the carrier may limit the purchase of new SIM cards for unlocked phones. Since this device is unlocked, functionality for certain carrier-specific features cannot be guaranteed. Please confirm with your carrier that it supports the Nexus 5X before purchasing.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow
The Android operating system integrates heavily with Google's services. Using the card-based Google Now, Android quickly surfaces information for you whenever you need it, powered by the same Knowledge Engine that runs Google's web search. It's a personalized and customizable OS, allowing you to add your favorite apps or widgets to your homescreen. You can even download new themes using the Google Play Store, which offers access to more than one million apps, games, books, music, movies, and more. Android 6.0 Marshmallow overhauls permissions, allowing you to have finer control over what your applications have access to. It also marks the debut of Now on Tap, a context-sensitive update to Google Now that checks your current screen for keywords and then searches for them automatically. Other performance and security enhancements are included as well.
Powerful Dual Cameras
The Nexus 5X's enhanced camera array excels in low-light conditions. The rear lens's larger 1.55μm pixels capture more light in all conditions to produce vivid details and sharp images.
Nexus Imprint
Built into the back of your device to accommodate the way you hold it, the Nexus Imprint fingerprint reader will turn on your screen with one touch, unlock your apps quickly, and let you breeze through checkout lines with Android Pay support.
USB Type-C
The USB Type-C charger is reversible, which means no more guessing which way is up. It also enables fast charging—you get almost four hours of use after only ten minutes of charging.

    LG LGH790 Reviews

Google Nexus 5X 16GB Smartphone (Unlocked, White) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 184.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid performer at a reasonable price! I'm going to keep this review simple for the passive shopper that is curious if this phone is worth the time to investigate. In basic, this is a solid phone with great specs at a relatively low price point. If you're a google/android fan, you'll love it. If you previously owned a Nexus device, the 5x is a nice graduation from last years Nexus 5. Not too big, not too small, and the camera takes outstanding photos with quick response time. If you're in the market to purchase a new phone outright and do not want to spend twice as much on one of the other options that likely will not provide twice the performance...this is you're best bet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Phone for a Budget I have been using the Nexus 5x for about a week now-- I love it. The battery life lasts me all day with moderate use. I love the camera and everything else works just fine. The only thing I dislike about the phone is that it slows down and freezes sometimes when you have a lot of apps running. Its not difficult to fix and it takes a lot of running apps for it to happen, but it is an annoyance. The only other problem is that with the LED screen it can't really get those deep black colors that a AMOLED can, but for the price its worth it. For such a cheap phone with stock android, its a great phone. Upgrading from the Galaxy S3, I think this was a great decision.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A tad large for one-handed use,but very good otherwise. Pros: - Great camera. Very quick, and significantly better than my Galaxy S4 in low lighting. Very detailed photos, even in non-ideal conditions - Very responsive and accurate fingerprint reader. - Good battery life, though I credit Android 6.0 more than the 5X - Timely security updates. I've gotten one already. Cons: - The front facing speaker is terrible. Much worse than my S4 in blind testing, and the speaker on my S4 points backwards. - A tad too large for one-handed use, and the volume rocker is low enough down the right side to make it easy to push accidentally when using one handed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good phone for its price My previous phone was a Nexus 5. After two years and having my children droping it on the floor a few times, it got broken and I decided to upgrade. I now own it for about two weeks. Here are few observations: 1. It is noticeably bigger than the Nexus 5, making it less comfortable to hold. But the bigger screen is worth it. 2. The battery life is much longer than that of the Nexus 5. On most days it lasts the whole day 3. Its quick to respond 4. The finger print scanner work very fast Overall, it seems like a very solid phone for an affordable price. Plus as a software geek, I like the fact that it is a pure Android phone which gets the latest android release before everyone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great phone for an amazing prize I use this smartphone both for personal and work related tasks. And it works great. The Nexus 5x delivers an exceptional experience, is very fast and smooth, and works amazingly well. The phone's build is solid and it feels great in the hand, and it's not slippery at all. And while it is larger than I anticipated, it can easily be manipulated with just one hand (maybe for a woman this may be a bit harder) and it fits perfectly in the pocket. And even if unlike other phones which are made of metal and glass, this one is made in plastic, this doesn't give it a cheap look at all, it just looks a bit more informal than other products, but it looks great. A few strong points of this phone are the fact that it runs a pure Android 6.0 and it always keeps up with the latest updates, which makes it run extremely smoothly. So you can't really tell it's not running the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, or that it has 2GB rather than 3GB RAM. And when you use it side by side with most flagship phones that have better specs, you can't really tell the difference in terms of the user experience. What you can really tell is how great this last version of Android is. Another great feature of this phone is the back fingerprint reader, which can be used both for unlocking the phone, and with Android pay. It's also worth noting how great this phone's cameras are. Especially the rear one, which finally shoots some more than decent photos, which in terms of quality are in par with most of the best smartphones in the market, so this is no longer a limitation for the Nexus line. One of the things that has surprised me the most, at least compared to my previous phones (a Moto X 2014 and a Samsung Galaxy A3), is that the LTE reception in this phone is great, and it has a much stronger signal in the same spots where it was poor with the other devices. Among the downsides, we can definitely count the battery, which doesn't last very long. Don't get me wrong, it lasts the whole day if you don't use it too intensively, but if you are a heavy user, it will most likely not make it all the way to the night. However, fast charging is really fast, and it gets you 75% of the battery in less than an hour. Another problem worth mentioning is the USB-C port. It's not compatible with most cables and chargers, and the box only includes a USB-C to USB-C cable, which means you'll have to purchase a USB-C to standard USB cable separatedly. Bear in mind that some cables are not compatible, and you run the risk of damaging your phone and computer if you don't use a tested brand. Make sure to check out that a cable has been certified before purchasing it and connecting it to your phone. Finally, it's worth mentioning the screen is not as crisp and sharp as other phones'. However, it is a full HD panel that looks very crisp on its own. The bottom line is that this is an amazing phone that delivers a flagship experience at a surprisingly low price. If you want a very fast and smooth experience, running the latest Android, on a 5.2 full HD screen, great reception, the best camera any Nexus has ever had, and all the features that make up a great smartphone this device is the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NIR Enabled Nexus 5X My application for the Nexus 5X is for near infrared (NIR) imaging. The camera module was modified by removing its internal filter so the camera can see from visible to NIR (about 400nm to 950nm). Using it built-in 850nm laser autofocus as a NIR illuminator, it seems sufficient for close range imaging applications such as retina imaging, vein viewer, etc. I've posted a YouTube video demonstrating the NIR illuminator feature. Although the Nexus 5X camera has a higher resolution that the older Nexus 5, it image contrast wasn't all that great but it's still good. Night pictures do have a lot less noise than the older Nexus 5 sensor. Overall, it's the best value to performance smartphone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great addition to the Nexus line! I've had a Nexus 5 for about 2 years now, and I've had such a positive experience with it that I knew I wanted to stay with a Google phone when I upgraded. The Nexus 6 is just too big for me, so the 5X was the logical choice, and so far I am very pleased with my purchase. Slim design, fun color, solid performance, and I really like the addition of the fingerprint scanner on the back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good phone until it nearly caught on fire while recharging I enjoyed the Nexus 5X for the approximately 5 months I used it. The 2GB is a bit deficient and the overall build quality is lacking but as a light user it was a good phone. Unfortunately, the Nexus nearly caught on fire while charging using the LG supplied charger and charging cable. Had I not been home to smell the burning, who knows what would have happened. I cannot recommend the phone. LG's customer service has been truly embarrassing to say the least. BHPhoto was quick to ship.

In the Safety and Warranty informations sheets, p.15, we can read: This warranty is good only to the original purchaser of the product during the warranty period as long as it is in the US, including Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories and Canada . So, clearly means the warranty is valid in Canada, right ?Then how to get my phone repaired under warranty in Canada as the phone is US model? LG Canada isn't able to answer me.
    Asked by: Audrey L.
According to LG, you will need to ship the phone to their repair facility in Fort Worth, Texas, US. Please contact LG US for support. This may help: http://www.lg.com/us/support/chat-and-email-informationThey will require you to provide a US address, to send the repaired phone after service. They will not ship it to Canada. Essentially, it is a US warranty only, but it covers the purchase in Canada, to some degree.
