Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing - NOT very powerful I've owned different green laser pointers before and purchased this to replace one that died after extensive use over the last 5 years. So it arrived timely and projected a green dot. What I was expecting was to be able to see at night was the green light exiting the laser pointer and seeing a beam of light reach far out into the sky like the others I had. This one does not show and beam and only a green dot out in the distance where it is pointed. Being able to see the beam is very important when trying to show others the different stars and constellation in the sky. The product is useless for this. Very disappointed. Would never buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, very pleased I bought this to use during astronomy nights where I point out constellations, planets, and other stuff to a group of kids. The beam shows up very well, I've used it in nice dark sky sites and at home, just outside Atlanta where the light pollution is kind of bad (and I have to be careful with aircraft overhead at night), and I can see it clearly at both sites. Even used it this past weekend to help point my camera for some astrophotography. I've only had it a few weeks, but if it can continue to hold up, then it will definitely be worth the purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This laser produces about 30 mW of power at 532 nm I bought this laser and measured the power using a calibrated power meter. The measured power was about 30 - 35 mW, which is more than six times the legal limit for hand held laser pointers. The laser itself has the specification of less than 5 mW of power. The actual power of the laser is 6 to 7 times this 5 mW specification. The FDA states that: Hand-held laser pointers over 5 mW and those that are not properly labeled are illegal and potentially dangerous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Fun little device for light painting with slow shutter photography. Also great for pointing out stars. The green beam is also visible at night. Very cool! Use responsibly!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Sorry to be a dissenting vote. But this pointer is very poor quality. Used it for a couple days setting up a lighting control system and the light output would vary, start out bright and rapidly dim, etc. Changed batteries with same results. Acted like there was a poor internal connection or something. I was needing to buy several more but will have to try another brand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Green Laser Pointer Had this about a year and a half now. It always seemed like the batteries were a bit loose. After using only a few times the batteries seemed to finally fit. I checked them and found both batteries had large scortch marks on them and had both exploded. This rendered the laser completely unusable and broken. It worked well for a while, but sometimes the beam itself was weak and would come back strong if it was shaken a bit. Most of the time all of the parts seemed a bit loose. Maybe not worth the $40 I paid for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good little laser This is a powerful little laser. Good for star party type viewing or pointing out things on a tour. Not so much for office presentations due to how bright the laser is. It can be stressful on the eyes when pointing it on those reflective screens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laser pointer!! This laser is a great product. The convenience of AAA batteries and a good name like Meade, make this a must have for business. Forget the cheap throw away pointers from the big box stores. This is the one to have!!
