    Meade 608002 reviews

Green Laser Pointer is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing - NOT very powerful I've owned different green laser pointers before and purchased this to replace one that died after extensive use over the last 5 years. So it arrived timely and projected a green dot. What I was expecting was to be able to see at night was the green light exiting the laser pointer and seeing a beam of light reach far out into the sky like the others I had. This one does not show and beam and only a green dot out in the distance where it is pointed. Being able to see the beam is very important when trying to show others the different stars and constellation in the sky. The product is useless for this. Very disappointed. Would never buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent but quirky instrument I read several reviews that the beam starts at full power then immediately drops to a much lower power. The unit I bought did the samething, so I changed-out the alkaline batteries to lithium ion batteries. The pulse of brightness persisted a little longer, but still faded within a second or two. I finally changed the batteries to high capacity, rechargeable lithium batteries (1100 mah) and got the beam to hold full brightness. Occasionally the beam intensity does not initiate at full brightness. Simply turning it on and off several times re-initiates the brightness. Could this be the result of the warm-up time other reviews have hinted at?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This laser produces about 30 mW of power at 532 nm I bought this laser and measured the power using a calibrated power meter. The measured power was about 30 - 35 mW, which is more than six times the legal limit for hand held laser pointers. The laser itself has the specification of less than 5 mW of power. The actual power of the laser is 6 to 7 times this 5 mW specification. The FDA states that: Hand-held laser pointers over 5 mW and those that are not properly labeled are illegal and potentially dangerous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, very pleased I bought this to use during astronomy nights where I point out constellations, planets, and other stuff to a group of kids. The beam shows up very well, I've used it in nice dark sky sites and at home, just outside Atlanta where the light pollution is kind of bad (and I have to be careful with aircraft overhead at night), and I can see it clearly at both sites. Even used it this past weekend to help point my camera for some astrophotography. I've only had it a few weeks, but if it can continue to hold up, then it will definitely be worth the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Fun little device for light painting with slow shutter photography. Also great for pointing out stars. The green beam is also visible at night. Very cool! Use responsibly!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Sorry to be a dissenting vote. But this pointer is very poor quality. Used it for a couple days setting up a lighting control system and the light output would vary, start out bright and rapidly dim, etc. Changed batteries with same results. Acted like there was a poor internal connection or something. I was needing to buy several more but will have to try another brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expected Better Two items on this laser pointer. The first is the two sections holding the batteries is not threaded by simply slips on and can sometime be out of alignment with the lamp section. Second, although the push button is larger and gives a better response, I found often, I had to open the pen, jiggle the batteries, put it back together to get it to work. When functioning properly, it provides a sharp intensive green point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not A Toy What a laser pointer and don't confuse this with a toy because its not. Said to have a range of 25,000 feet and I believe it. Very sturdy as well.
