  • 2.0x Anamorphic Squeeze
  • Creates 2.66:1 Images on 4:3 Sensors
  • Near / Normal Focus Adjustment

The SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 2.0x Anamorphic Adapter allows you to expand your creative horizons, enabling you to capture footage with a 2.66:1 aspect ratio on your camera with a 4:3 sensor. This results in an image that out of the camera will look distorted, as if your subjects were stretched taller and thinner than normal. SLR Magic SLRA50-2X Overview

This is easily corrected in post with virtually any modern NLE, creating an image suitable for viewing on wide-screen.

The Anamorphot-50 features adjustable focus marked normal and near. The near adjustment allows you to focus on subjects closer than approximately 26' away; setting the adapter to normal allows you to focus on subjects from approximately 26' to infinity. It mounts to lenses with a non-rotating front and a front thread diameter of 62mm. SLR Magic recommends that the Anamorphot-50 2.0x be used with lenses that have a front element that is physically no larger than 50mm in diameter.

A 4:3 sensor records an image with an aspect ratio of approximately 1.33:1, and if you want to convert that to a more cinematic widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1 you could crop your image in post. However, this leads to a loss in resolution and image degradation. The Anamorphot 2.0x squeezes the image horizontally, which creates the classic tall / thin image that must be "de-squeezed" in post. The anamorphic process allows you to capture your image using your entire sensor, so there is no loss in resolution when compared with cropping your image.
The Anamorphot-50 2.0x screws onto your lens's front, providing the classic anamorphic effect. Once screwed onto your lens, you use the push/pull locking ring to align and lock the Anamorphot-50.
Supports focal lengths between 35 and 100mm for APS-C and MFT format sensors, and 70 to 100mm for full-frame format sensors.
The Normal/Near adjustments ring allows you to fine-tune the focus of your lens for shooting subjects closer than approximately 26'.
It features a 77mm filter thread so you can attach optional filters, diopters, or the SLR Magic Rangefinder Cine for improved focus functionality.

Will this adapter work for the Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 PRO lens? At least at the 35-40mm range end?
Asked by: Hans
The SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 2.0x Anamorphic Adapter should work. It attaches to 62mm filter rings. The OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO II Lens has 62mm front filter threads for the SLR Magic adapter to attach to.

question

What proportions would this lens yield on 2:3 full-frame sensor, such as the 5D MII?
Asked by: Ramsey B.
Assuming we are talking about video, the mk II can only shoot 16:9 HD or 4:3 standard def (who wants to do that?). If you hack it with Magic Lantern software you can shoot 1600x1200 4:3 video, which would give you a final aspect of 2.67:1.

question

What is the minimum foccusing distance ? Will the diopters for 1.33x model work with this model as well?
Asked by: Manjeet S.
On the Anamorphot-50 2.0x adapter the near adjustment allows you to focus on subjects closer than approximately 26' away, setting the adapter to normal allows you to focus on subjects from approximately 26' to infinity. Please keep in mind that this unit is designed to go on lenses with a 62mm filter thread, minimum focus distance will depend on the lens it is being used on. The 1.33x model when set to near adjustment allows you to focus on subjects closer than 6.5' away, setting the adapter to normal allows you to focus on subjects from 6.5' to infinity.

Will it work on GH5 and voightlander 25mm f0.9 ?
Asked by: fu kang
It will not as this Anamorphic adapter supports focal lengths between 35 and 100mm for APS-C and MFT format sensors. A 25mm is too wide.

I own the Lumix S. Paired it with 7Artisans 35mm 1.4 lens. Will this work with my setup? Is there additional adapters/components I need?
Asked by: Austin
This will not work well. 35mm on a full frame sensor is fairly wide (for anamorphic adapters) thus it will result in a very heavy vignette. We recommend lenses that are at least 50mm for this kind of adapter.

Would this lens work on a Canon EOS M with the EF-M 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM lens that comes with it? Is there a adapter?
Asked by: Marcin
The Canon EF-M 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 has a 52mm filter thread connection. Using the step-up ring below would allow you to mount and work with the SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 2.0x Anamorphic Adapter. Sensei PRO 52-62mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring BH #SESURPA5262

question

What's the widest angle taking lens that this 2x could be used with on a MFT setup without vignetting? For instance could I use it on a GH4 with a 12mm prime? An uber wide aspect ratio shot in 4k is what I'm after, final post-expanded frame size something like 6k X 2k.
Asked by: Nick
SLR Magic recommends on the GH4 that you use no wider than a 35mm lens. Wider will cause vignetting. While this seems not wide at all, remember the 2.0X anamorphic will create an apparent field of half of 35mm or 17.5mm. If you need a wider aspect ratio, you can create it in your editing program.
