Allowing you to convert your treasured vinyl/cassette collection into high-resolution PCM or DSD files, the DS-DAC-10R from KORG is a 1-bit USB digital-to-audio converter offering many of the same under-the-hood components as the MS-2000S 1-Bit Studio Recorder—though at a more convenient size.
Its analog capabilities include line outputs, line inputs, and phono inputs, which make this unit suitable for capturing the playback systems of yesteryear, vinyl and cassette especially. In PCM mode, all the usual sample rates apply, from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz, in 16-bit and 24-bit depths. However, in DSD, not only can you facilitate audio playback at 2.8224 MHz and 5.6448 MHz—you can also record at these high resolutions in a variety of applications, from digitally rendering your cassette deck or vinyl collection (there is even a grounding terminal to accommodate record players) to bypassing high-resolution audio releases in favor of creating them yourself.
Designed to integrate consumer-grade analog in high-definition fashion with your existing digital-audio system, the unit includes a six-curve DSD phono equalizer for mitigating/restoring the tonal anomalies of vinyl, which can be applied either during the recording process or upon playback. High-resolution audio playback via iPhone is also possible with iAudioGate, available for download on Korg's website.
