  • 7" 1920x1200 HDMI Monitor
  • 300 Nit Brightness/800:1 Contrast Ratio
  • Includes Canon and Sony Battery Plates
  • 178° Viewing Angle
View UHD-resolution HDMI signals with the Ikan DH7 Monitor. Because the DH7 can work with 4K signals, which have greater representation of fine details and edges, focus assist functions, such as focus peaking and punch-in through 1:1 pixel mapping, are enhanced. The thin profile of the monitor as well as 1/4"-20 threads on all sides, make it easy to integrate into your DSLR or mirrorless camera setup. A convenient headphone output allows for audio monitoring straight from the camera's HDMI signal. The monitor includes two swappable battery plates: one for Canon LP-E6-type batteries and one for Sony L-type batteries.

ikan DH7 Reviews

Pretty nice

I use this with an FS5. Originally, I thought the image was awful and didn't use it for months. But then I tried it again and played around with the settings more. Was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that with the brightness turned down to about 60%, the picture looks pretty good! So...it's not perfect but pretty good for the price. It's really light, so I can stick this and the FS5 on a ronin and it doesn't make it signficantly heavier.

Works well for the 3 weeks I have had it.

I bought the ikan DH7 for my Sony RX10 IV camera & is far easier to shoot consecutive photos w/ this monitor instead of using the 3" built-in LCD monitor w/ limited articulation that the camera sports. When I 1st got this monitor I started charging the battery, sadly the charger though 1A doesn't tell one how much the battery is charged nor when it is fully charged, it also came w/o any charger instructions. Once I received the Fast charger I bought from B&H I knew the battery was fully charged. Also when I 1st tried the monitor using the AC Adapter the monitor worked but only had the ikan logo, no image of whet the camera was aimed at, but after installing the battery the camera image on the ikan monitor appeared. I shot 1,000+ photos a few days ago w/ the ikan monitor & there was not any or any noticeable delay. I am very satisfied w/ this product.

Eh. It's a screen, not much else.

I personally wouldn't waste your money on this one. I bought it because it was half off, but I don't think even that was worth the price. If literally all you want out of a monitor is that it has a screen, this is your kind of buy. But the lack of a rear mount and touchscreen, the bearely readable histogram, and the wonky/very limited color temperature settings make this gadget not much more than a toy. The out-of-the-way positioning and hidden labeling of the buttons don't help either. And what's the point of "4K" if the screen quality itself is honestly not that great? If you're going to purchase a monitor (or really any piece of gear) it can't be said enough... Get an actual one and don't try to "save" on a cheaper, less proficient product. I see no real point to owning this one; it doesn't go the extra mile in any way, and it's painfully sub-par compared to industry standard technology.

This monitor has perfect clarity. It's also very lightweight so it's not cumbersome for field shoots. A very nice addition for the freelancer on a budget.

Best thing is the False Color

This little monitor is fine. If you have a tiny budget and don't have a monitor, get this. You'll be happy enough. If you need critical focus on wider shots, you may be disappointed. It's not super sharp. But the false colors pretty much makes it worth it. I bought two. One for each interview camera. Put them on stands next to each other so I can match and it's really handy. The menus are good, and they are light. Battery life is AWFUL and you don't get much warning before they die.

Minor firmware upgrades would be nice.

This is a good monitor for it's price point. Hardware wise I have nothing to complain about. Thankfully ikan doesn't ship this unit with batteries as for international customers lithium batteries & shipping is a nightmare at the moment. Firmware wiseI would like to see a few features implemented; 1) Grids and function key assignment, for all other function key assignments pressing the function key turns the associated feature on or off. With grids it cycles through all the different grid sizes, this should be on or off. The menu for video guides will need to changed so that you can select your preferred grid size. 2) Grid color, the grids are bright white, it would be nice if you could select various shades of grey to make them less obtrusive. 3) Battery level indicator, as mentioned in other comments there is no level on screen, it just flashes a brief warning icon just before the battery is about to die. 4) Focus peaking color, currently no color selection - red only. 5) Focus peaking sensitivity, when performing focus peaking in dark areas the feature is pretty much useless as it picks up the noise in the picture and in-turn generates red peaking dots all over the screen. Sensitivity adjustment would be great. All in all a great monitor, I do understand that it's a value monitor and ikan probably doesn't want to make it too feature rich, but if a firmware update were to address (at least) requests 1 to 3 it would be a absolute pleasure to use. For now, sometimes it's features are a hindrance.

Not surprised this has been discontinued. Overly sharp image, poor brightness, and confusing aspect ratios. Go for SmartHD or Atomos.

A good starter monitor that impresses for the price.

This monitor is pretty sharp and best for composition and focusing. It doesn't have a ton of elaborate functions. The UI is very simple and easier to navigate than a smallhd monitor. Color balancing this thing is pretty confusing and unreliable. Waveform would have been nice though. The option for various battery plates is great. The sun hood is cumbersome to attach but solid once it's on. The travel charger is pretty disappointing. It takes forever to charge and the led indicator is far from reliable. I have noticed the minute lag on signal while focus pulling but so far it has not been an issue.

question

it says it has adjustable upper clip guides but I have yet to figure out how to set them. Any clue?
Asked by: Michael
Michael, there should be detailed instructions on how to access all the functions of the monitor in the Quick Start Guide. But, you go to Menu>Function>Set-up>Clip Guides.

question

If you're shooting at 120fps with the a7s II will this monitor still function or does it lose signal?
Asked by: Michael
This monitor accepts signals up to 60fps in HD and 30fps in UHD. It will not be able to view a 120fps signal. Such a frame rate is really going to be limited to viewing just on the camera's monitor in most cases.

question

Does this monitor show show waveform or color parade?
Asked by: Micah M.
This monitor has: Histogram & Audio Level Meters, Peaking, False Color, Clip Guides, & Pixel to Pixel but sorry no waveform or color parade. The most affordable ikan with waveform and color parade is the ikan D7w 7 3G-SDI/HDMI Field Monitor w/Waveform & Sony L Batt Plate. If you need Canon LP-E6, Nikon EN-EL 15, Panasonic G6 Battery Plates, you can get, for just a little more, the ikan D7-2 7 3G-SDI/HDMI Field Monitor w/Waveform. Please see attached.

question

Can I use the monitor with atomos power station by dc port?
Asked by: Anton P.
The DC connection that is included with the Atomos Power Station is specifically for the Atomos Shogun. However the DH7 comes with both LP-E6 and NP-F battery plates, the Power Station comes with power adapters for both of those battery types. You should be able to use one of those adapters to power the Ikan monitor.

question

Hi, can this monitor provide overlays for different aspect ratios? I.e. if I wanted it to overlay bars over the image so that I would know what will be left over if I crop to 2:35 aspect ratio later? Thanks.
Asked by: Rene F.
It does have 2:35:1 aspect ratio framing built in, no rubber bands or anything like that. Go to Menu-Video Config-Aspect and then choose 2.35.1 ratio.
