Vello CB-900 Reviews

Great for video work...

As a content creator that primarily shoots video, this little guy is coming in handy. This bracket's primary use is for a mic or for a light. The cold shoe mount is removable allowing you to use the 1/4-20 for any other accessories. The padded arm feels great and looks good too. I don't see myself using this very much for hand held filming because I tend to like my setup to attract less attention and this bracket makes my rig a lot bigger. When using a tripod this bracket is a winner. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

Seems good

Haven't had a chance to use it much but as much as I have it works well. An inexpensive option to try som macro flash or as I am doing, LED panels.

Could I replace the cold shoe with a mini-ballhead?
Asked by: Andrew
Yes you can. The Vello CB-900 Flexible Macro Flash Bracket’s cold shoe is attached via a ¼ 20 screw stud and is easily removed. Any ballhead like the Oben BD-02 BH #OBBD02 that can accept a ¼ 20 screw can be attached.

question

How heavy a flash will the arm hold and maintain its placement?
Asked by: Danielle G.
I use the CB-900 flexible bracket for macro photography with a Canon 430EX III-RT mounted with a Lastolite Easybox Micro light modifier. The arm easily holds this load. It is sturdy and well build, except for the flash cold shoe and the camera mounting screw (both of inferior quality).

question

Off a tripod...Is the flexible grip sturdy/stiff enough to handhold a camera by this grip like a typical L bracket? Or do I need to hold on to the camera also?
Asked by: Robert
Thanks... Back in the day a good flash was attached on an L bracket via the big handle attached to the flash head (only cheapie flashes went on the shoe, and we carried our SLR by the flash handle but often detached the flash to move the flash away from the camera. It was a great set up...Im looking to recreate that...May be old fashioned but was actually very ergonomic.
