Vortex DB-200 overview

  • 1Description

Combining excellent optical performance with ruggedness, portability, and comfort, the 8x28 Diamondback Binocular from Vortex Optics is ideal to take along on your hiking trips, when camping or traveling, or just in case. The specially designed optics feature improved transmission, contrast, and true color using fully multi-coated lenses and phase-corrected roof prisms. With the improved close focus of 6.5', you will get plenty of focusing range and a sharp focus on faraway scenery as well as close-ups of nearby street signs, monuments' details, or wildlife. The combination of 8x magnification, optimal for jitter-free viewing, and the 28mm objectives offers you a generous 6.2° angle of view that gives you complete images of your targets.

The lightweight aluminum housing is purged with argon gas and sealed with O-rings to offer enhanced fog and waterproof performance. The short-hinge bridge is reduced in size, compared to previous generations of Diamondbacks, to cut overall weight and to expose more of tubes' surface for easy holding. To ensure that you have a non-slip grip and tuning, the body, oversized focusing ring, diopter ring, and twist-up soft tapered eyecups have rubberized coverings. The focusing knob and the diopter ring also have knurling for easy use even with gloves on. Also included with the binocular are a carry case, neck strap, rainguard, and tethered objective caps.

    Vortex DB-200 reviews

    8x28 Diamondback Binocular (Green/Black) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could not want much better for birding in well-lit scenery. Only recently have I added birdwatching to astronomy as a hobby, and partly thanks to the Diamondbacks it has come to fruition. The species on the heavily vegetated grounds of my apartment complex are wide and varied. These binoculars are perfect, at 8-power, to observe during daylight hours. Once properly adjusted, the sharp images prove true-to-color and I can easily spot the birds when they alight in nearby bushes as well. Very fine equipment indeed for a wholesome endeavor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Admirable close focus During daylight hours every distance shines brightly in the Diamondbacks, but at close focus birds, butterflies and the world of insects are transmitted in simply astounding detail...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magic Went moose hunting this past fall with 2 pairs of binoculars in the truck me and my buddy had some down time so I figured I'd clean lenses before heading out. was looking thru my one pair they were blurry and the colors were washed out. My buddy grabbed these bad boys and said to check them out. I was in love, HD vision and crisp true colors. Couldn't make a decision anymore clear. Ditch mine in the nearest trash when I got into town.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact Binocular for archery hunting I bought a pair of Vortex Hurricanes (former Diamonbacks) 8x28's 10-12 years ago and sent them in to have the grease replaced in the focusing mechanism. I dropped them off on Tuesday and had them back in my hands on Friday! Awesome Customer Service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Binocular for Those With Bad Eyes I went to the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament in Boise on 3-15-2018. I had a very low quality pair of binoculars that I decided to replace. I wanted a pair that could fit into my coat pocket, had high eye relief for my thick glasses, and a flat field and did not cost an arm and a leg. I didn't hold out much hope of finding a pair that met my requirements. I quickly found the Diamondback 8x28 binoculars. They met my requirements. The next day I attended the second round of the tournament. To my astonishment, I found a major added bonus of the Diamondback. The exit pupil of 3.5mm, (that's found by 28/8=3.5) is small enough to nullify my sever astigmatism. For the first time in my life, I can use the 8x28 Diamondback without my glasses or contacts! I didn't even think of this feature before I purchased them. The 18mm eye relief was just enough to use my glasses...which is now not relevent. I agree with all the other 5 star reviews so I won't repeat them. But if there was a 10 star rating, I'd use that! I've only used these binocs once but I absolutely know the Diamondback will serve me well for the rest of my life!!! Thank you Vortex.
