1200W HMI Fresnel Kit with Dimmable Electronic Ballast and Case (110 VAC) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ya get what ya pay for First, It came unassembled with no instructions. Let's not even get into how it was packaged in a cardboard box with scraps of foam, styrofoam and cardboard to make it "safe" for transport. The lamp came with severable visible surface abrasions that made me uncomfortable - looked like sandpaper had hit it in a few places. It also produces noticeable noise in the 14k Hz and 17k Hz ranges. The stress relief for the cables is in a weird position - which doesn't offer any stress relief (And the screws were loose when it arrived so I had to tighten them up). Overall the construction is cheap. The powder coating on the front and rear facing vents is sloppy and partially covered preventing full airflow. It comes with NO SCRIMSwhich is an interesting choice. The reflector dish in the back of the light came with a dent in it like it was carelessly jammed in during factory construction. The box, which looks nice in photos, is incredibly cheap, a small impact could break any of the panels, and the metal on the seams is thin and came pre-dented in several places. The ballast also makes noise SOMETIMES. It's inconsistent and the dim switch is mainly used to reduce flicker, it seems to do a poor job of actually cleaning the power source. Of course these ballast issues could just be a result of the cheap included lamp packed in an unmarked box (as mentioned above). These issues could go away once we change the lamp out - but no guarantees. Also we're hoping the smell eventually burns off. It's either gotten better or I'm just getting used to it.
