Will this HDMI splitter maintain the audio signal even if one of the monitors connected to it does not have audio?
When using Apantac 1 x 2 HDMI Splitter (2nd Generation) both HDMI outputs would send audio. If you have a display that does not support audio it would still send audio out both HDMI ports.

I see that one output is marked "Out 1/EDID." Why? What is the difference? how is this used? Etc?
The HDMI output 1 is a EDID learning port on the Apantac 1 x 2 HDMI Splitter. EDID is an industry standard for AV Source and Display devices which automatically communicates manufacturer specification and data between devices. This allows your AV source to send the best compatible signal data to your screen, TV or projector to ensure the best possible picture results.

If this device handles 4K signals, why does the specs give 1900 x 1200 as its max resolution?
The Apantac HDMI 1x2 II 1 × 2 HDMI Splitter handles 4K signals, but the 1900 × 1200 specification refers to its maximum guaranteed resolution for analog scaling or EDID negotiation, not the digital 4K passthrough; it can still pass a 4K @ 30 Hz HDMI signal to compatible displays.
