Fat Shark FSV1063 overview

  • 1Description

The DominatorV3 WVGA FPV Headset from Fat Shark allows for first-person viewing (FPV) of the video downlink from the wireless transmitter on your RC aircraft for a truly immersive flying experience. It features a WVGA (800 x 480) resolution image with a 30° field of view and an integrated DVR that records the video downlink to microSD/SDHC cards up to 32GB in size.

The DominatorV3 uses a modular design, meaning that additional modules and accessories must be added for functionality of the unit. In order to receive the video downlink from your wireless video transmitter, a receiver module is required. Receiver modules are available in 1.3GHz, 2.4GHz, or 5.8GHz options. Please note that Fat Shark only guarantees compatibility with NexwaveRF modules from Fat Shark for ImmersionRC. To install the receiver module, simply remove the door panel on the side of the headset, insert the module, and snap the door panel back in place.

For the most immersive experience, an optional Trinity Head Tracker module can be inserted into a slot on the opposite side of the headset, accessed through a second removable door panel. The head tracker lets you control pan, tilt, and roll of your aircraft-mounted FPV camera (sold separately) using the motion of the headset.

Power is provided to the headset using the included 1800mAh LiPo battery pack, which securely fits in a head strap pocket on the headset. The battery pack includes a 3-pole balance lead for charging from standard RC-type chargers. Also included with the headset are a mini- to mini-HDMI cable, AV cable, and carry case.

    Fat Shark FSV1063 reviews

DominatorV3 WVGA FPV Headset is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and totally simple to use! I am loving these. The DVR function is a sweet bonus and completely easy to use. Changing channels is a breeze without seeing the buttons and you don't get confused with the brightness and contrast control because feel of the button is different. The included case is perfect. You do need a charger, but it comes with the charging lead with banana connectors. Be aware that you cannot expose the lens to direct sunlight.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Luke warm but beats a tablet. This is my first headset and I expected a little more of an immersive experience. This FOV is more like you are sitting in the middle of a movie theater with lot's of black on the sides but still way better than a tablet for flying the DJI Phantom's. You can see details that get lost on the dimly lit tablet or phone. 3 stars because of the experience using these goggles and for the battery which would not take a charge, even after 3 different chargers and a trip to my local DJI Repair Center only to find it faulty. B&H was wonderful (as always) and sent me a replacement. That's what makes them the best! Thank you. DON'T FORGET! This does NOT come with a charger so you will need to find one. The wall chargers are rare so good luck as everyone was sold out. If you fly anything other than the DJI products then you may already have the charger you need.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dominator V3's: Just ok but certainly not great Ok, so everyone knows Fat Shark is pretty much the only name in the game for fpv goggles, but IMHO it seems like they almost took a step back compared to the V2's in several ways. Going to the wide 16:9 format seems like a great move, but honestly, there are almost no fpv cameras that provide a 16:9 image, so these Stretch the image to fill the screen, and I gotta say, that takes some getting used to. Also, the optics in these new v3's are plastic, not glass, although they are still very clear, but the smaller FOV is certainly not a welcome change, and after looking thru a pair of Attitude V3's, it was a shock to see that the screens in the Attitude's are larger than in the Dominator v3's..! My plan was to get the LaForge diversity modules for these Dominator v3's as they are FAR superior to the modules produced by Fat Shark, but they are only on pre-order status, and I do not want to wait months to have diversity in a slick package like the Dominators, but in all honesty, the stretched image has turned out to be a deal-breaker for me, and I have sold my Dominator v3's and bought a set of Headplays which are lightyears ahead of Fat Shark, although not as comfortable or cool, the image quality and shear size of the screen and huge FOV has made me leave Fat Shark as a customer, probably never to return.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well - but wait for DJI Goggles! Works as advertised. 720p resolution, works with DJI HDMI module. It leaves a little to be desired - not enough detail to fly except in the safest of environments. Not good enough to navigate woods or power lines. (Trust me!)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from SHAME on Fat Shark! Can not believe they do NOT include a battery charger with the V3 headset. I specifically asked BH Photo if there was anything else I needed when ordering the V3 headset and was told no. Upon receiving the headset with no charger I called BH Photo to order a charger. They informed me the Venom lipo balance charger was it. Upon receiving the Venom charger and following all instructions the charger would not work. Called again and they sent me a Dynamite charger at no cost. This one did not work. After surfing the web I found information that Fat Shark had an update to the User Manual stating that some chargers need to be set to Nimh instead of Lipo. Went back to the Venom charger and set the battery type to Nimh and charge to 1A. Do not connect the balance lead to charger. The Venom charger then worked as it should with all lights and display working properly. Everyone I talked to at BH Photo tried their best to be helpful but were not informed on the Fat Shark V3 headset or chargers. This was the only bad experience I have had with BH Photo and intend to use them in the future.
