The U73b Compressor from Audiffex is a plug-in that models a vintage German broadcast compressor/limiter. Between the 1960's and 1980's, the original Telefunken U73b unit was often found performing mastering duties with its all-tube, variable-mu circuitry and adjustable release time options. The software simulates the original designed with its VU meter and switchable side-chain high-pass filter, with only input and output gain controls added before and right after the compressor circuit to facilitate compression adjustment.

Compressor/limiter switch for selecting compressor mode, bypass, or limiter mode
The compressor mode has lower threshold setting and a very gentle increasing ratio, whereas the limiter mode provides higher threshold setting with a higher ratio, but still with the smooth knee response
First three positions of the release section offer fixed release times, while the other three positions provide adjustable program content dependent release time options
Input control adjusts input gain before the compressor/limiter circuit
Output control adjusts output gain after the compressor/limiter circuit
Sidechain selects the signal source used for controlling the gain reduction
