this goes back to our still photography tools -- honeycomb concept for focusing / cutting light either for background or even a rim light

Better than the barndoors for shaping light

If you have the LED500 or LED1000 from Dracast, this is a better choice for shaping and focusing your light. I am deducting 1 star because they should add 2 holes on top to allow screwing on the barndoors (even though they're useless for shaping light, they will however allow you to add a filter and can protect your leds when travelling).

highly recommended for dramatic lighting

As will all honeycomb grids, this will reduce light output. The purpose of this is to narrow the focus of the light, and it does this very well. LED lights typically spill all over the place, and this will give you a more focused, dramatic looking light.

Works well

I bought two of these for my home-made LED light panels. First the negative; cost. They are very expensive. The other thing I noticed is one of the long edges is not straight, it has a bow to it. It doesn't affect the performance. I'm very happy with the performance of these grids. They do a good job of controlling spill. Lightweight and compact they are the best option for me for shaping light.

A good grid, for sure. Fits into the LED500 smoothly, just wish they made it with more sizes and that it had a locking mechanism so I could use it with more confidence sideways or on a boom.

Works great!

Love this thing. Cuts down light and easy to pop in and out of light. Very lightweight.

Hi there. I am in the process of fabricating a whole bunch of LED panels in various custom sizes from 10cmx10cm to 10x50cm. The slot in my plans to receive the honeycomb would accept these. Can you custom build? And do you? Cheers
Asked by: scott
We do not do any custom building of honeycombs.
