Popular with ounce-counting backpackers for its small size, light weight and widely available fuel, the Alcohol Burner Camp Stove from Esbit is a study in simplicity. Just fill it with denatured alcohol and light with a lighter or match. Adjust the flame with the flame regulator, which features a folding handle. When you're done cooking, slide the regulator lid to the closed position and extinguish the flame. Leave the unused fuel right in the stove for your next meal or beverage – a screw top with rubber gasket prevents leaks. The stove holds 2.3 fl oz of fuel, which provides up to 30 minutes of cooking time. The Alcohol Burner requires a user-supplied stand, purpose-made or improvised, on which to set the cooking pot.
