Vidpro LED-330X Overview

  • 1Description

Featuring 330 LEDs, the LED-330X Variable-Color On-Camera LED Video Light from Vidpro produces a 180W equivalent, 70° light beam while maintaining a slim, lightweight, and portable design. It features variable color temperature between tungsten-balanced 3200K and daylight-balanced 5600K, and a stepless dimmer that lets you adjust the light output from 100% down to 10%.

Integrated barn doors allow you to control light spill, limit light leaks from the edges, and provide directionality to your light. For power, the LED-300X accepts a single Sony L-series (NP-F) type battery, and a FP-F550 type battery and charger are included as part of this lighting kit. An AC power supply is also included for continuous power. Also included is a soft diffuser and an adjustable shoe-mount.

    Vidpro LED-330X Reviews

LED-330X Variable-Color On-Camera LED Video Light Kit is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the price Unbeatable performance for the price. I needed light for an unexpected project that was going to be in a variety of uncontrolled lighting situations. These were light, easy to setup, quick to tear down, and I could adjust the light color and overall brightness painlessly. The power cables are too short for my purposes, I ended up taking a power squid along and looping that over my tripod since the cords couldn't reach the floor. Having both power and battery backup was huge as once or twice we needed to run the lights without power. Are there brighter, better and more expensive lights? Yup, but this did the job and I'll use them often.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great output but with one caveat. I really enjoy this light almost everything about it is just perfect. The output is just enough for me. I mainly shoot wedding videos so this is a must have during receptions. The barn doors are excellent as well. BUT this light gets really hot and burns through the batteries really quickly. I am left rotating 2-3 batteries at a time within a span of several hours. By the time I get to the third battery it just doesn't even last long despite its full charge. Perhaps its the heat of the light that prevents it but I don't know. I really want to purchase another one but just don't feel like investing in a ton of more batteries. Great light just the battery life sucks and I even purchased a sony battery and this thing just drains it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ok Lighter and brighter then the 213 unit but that comes with some disadvantages. Lighter because it only holds one battery. the battery doesn't last as long so make sure you get a back up. and you'll need to keep it on you because with LED's theres no warning when the battery is going to die it just goes black. The barn doors get in the way so i had to remove them. they were screwed on brakes and not ones that will be easily put back on. would've been nice if they popped on and off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They break. Easily. The mounts are horrible cheap plastic and badly designed. They fatigue very quickly and can break just from being moved on a stand, or from being mounted horizontally. Both of mine have snapped. Im giving two stars because the LEDs do work reasonably well, even after falling to the floor when the mounts broke. You cant expect pro-quality gear at this price, but even prosumer gear should at least be able to support its own weight while sitting motionless on a stand. If you can live without that capability, then great, these are the lights for you. But dont put anything expensive under them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok but poor battery performance I bought a couple of this lights. It works fine but the battery died after just a total of 11 hours of use. It took a while to charge the batteries. Better get a few batteries if you want to use this Led. I have other 550 batteries that lasts for hundred of hours. I may have defective batteries that came with the lights but I cannot get hold of VidPro customer service at all for replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again I am using this LED light for fill light. When I am photographing homes for real estate agents, this unit give those dark spaces just the light needed. It is small and portable. That is a huge plus. You can control the color of light and the intensity. Great unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Brighter Than The Sun I used the light for the first time at a wedding reception last night. One person said it's brighter than the sun. The reception was in a tent. Tent's are always difficult because of the outside light and backlighting must be overcome. It did a great job. It's adjustable from 3200K to 5600K and 10 to 100% brightness. I didn't need the full power it has to offer. It is rechargeable with an AC/DC charger. Mounts on the camera but it does add considerable weight to a lightweight camera. I might buy another one to replace the smaller light on the second camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellant and almost perfect. This is almost a professional light. It has barn doors which is very important for video use. It allows you to put light just where you want it. You can also barn off light that is getting into a lens and causing a flare. It is light and sturdy. Plastic for sure but it already took a pretty good tumble. I would pay more for a better build . The only issue is the reistat. It is stepy. So you have to fight it sometimes to get the proper light level. All in all I am happy with it and will probably buy a couple more. I shot 8 interviews of about 10 minutes each and there was plenty of battery left.

    question

How long can you run on battery power with full output of light?
    Asked by: Anonymous
You should get around 40 minutes or so with the included NP-F550 battery with the light on full power. It would be a good idea to purchase an additional battery, such as the NP-F770, which gives you twice as much power.

    question

    ARE THE BARN DOORS REMOVABLE?
    Asked by: Anonymous
I own this light, it has been a very good performer. I'm very pleased with the quality of light especially the warm white. I'm looking at the light as I am typing this, it looks to me as if the barn doors could be removed without effecting the structural integrity of the light. There are several small screws that hold a frame that holds the barn doors to the light. Also, the barn door hinges are attached to the frame with small screws. It looks as if these could also be removed leaving the frame intact. I'm not sure why anyone would want to take the barn doors off. I have used this light on numerous occasions and the barn doors have never gotten in the way. Best of luck.

Does anyone had issues with the battery mount in ...

Does anyone had issues with the battery mount in the back? 2 weeks ago I've taking it to do some ENG and for some reason the contact seems to be off and I had to wiggle the battery in the mount. Now, writting those lines the contacts seems OK after wiggleling the battery. I've been using the battery that came with and some Sony NP-F970 batteries for longer shoot. I've also tried this issue with the DC input and it works fine.

This light seems perfect, except that I don't want the barn doors. Has anyone tried removing them? Eben permanently would be okay if it doesn't damage the frame.
    Asked by: Dicran
The light is great for the money you pay, I removed the barn doors and nothings happen, no damage easy to removes.

About the charger. Does it need 110V or 220V to work? I have 220V here in Greece. And if it's working on 110V, is there a solution to use it on 220V? Thank you.
    Asked by: Giorgos L.
    Yes! It works on either.
