Can I attach other small cameras to this Gorillapod or only smartphones ?
Yes .... you can attach other small cameras to the Gorilla pod since the top clamp is spring loaded so you can adjust the width to something a little larger than a regular smartphone. You can, in fact, raise the top clamp about an inch and a half so you can work with cameras that are that much wider than a regular I-Phone. Hope this helps.Michael Fullerton

Can you unscrew handle to make it more compact?
No. Do not buy this piece of junk. There is no way of locking the pan and tilt head if you just want to set your camera/phone to do a static shot like a time-lapse. You have to awkwardly use the handle to prop the pod and keep it stable. I would not recommend this to anyone.I'm not knocking the entire Joby range. Their other bigger/stronger pods are great but this one is useless. A gimmick at best.

Does it work with the Go-Pro Hero4? If so, would you buy this model or spend the extra for Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini Tripod w/ BH1-01EN Ball Head?
Yes this works with GoPros, but the only downside is that you would have to buy the gopro tripod mount. That way you would be able to use cell phones and a gopro with this tripod. That is what i use it for. if you just want to use this tripod with gopros then i recommend looking into the tripod that gopro sells
