Tokina 14-20mm f/2.0 overview

  • 1Description

A fast wide-angle zoom for Canon EF mount APS-C-format DSLRs, the AT-X 14-20mm f/2 PRO DX Lens from Tokina spans a concise 22.4-32mm equivalent focal length range while retaining a bright, constant f/2 maximum aperture. Ensuring a high degree of sharpness and clarity throughout the wide-angle range, the optical design features an array of aspherical and Super Low Dispersion elements to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations. A multi-layer, anti-reflective coating has also been added to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting. In regard to handling, an internal focusing design enables quick, accurate autofocus performance that can quickly be overridden for manual control using the One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism. Well-suited to working in a variety of situations, the variety of wide-angle perspectives and bright maximum aperture are especially beneficial to landscape, reportage, and other environmental photography applications.

Compatible with Canon EF-mount APS-C-format DSLRs, this wide-angle zoom offers a 22.4-32mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/2 maximum aperture provides consistent performance throughout the zoom range and is well-suited to photographing in low-light conditions.
The 13 elements, 11 groups optical design includes one plastic-molded aspherical element, two Super Low Dispersion (SD) glass elements, and two glass-molded aspherical SD glass elements. This combination of aspherical and low dispersion elements helps to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range for increased clarity, sharpness, and color accuracy.
A multi-layer, anti-reflective coating has been applied to individual elements to control lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in harsh lighting conditions.
Pairing with an internal focusing design for quick AF performance, this lens also features a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for switching between AF and MF modes. By sliding the focusing ring back or forth, you can quickly change between focusing modes.
Nine diaphragm blades contribute to a pleasing quality of bokeh.

    Tokina 14-20mm f/2.0 reviews

AT-X 14-20mm f/2 PRO DX Lens for Canon EF is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best wide angle zoom lens so far! Period! I puchase Tokina 14-20 last week and mounted it on my Canon SL1. I particularly shot in low light; the lens performed very well. The images were very sharp. The lens focused very accurate on both 14 and 20mm ends. The speed of Auto focus is good and acceptable. Comparing to Canon 24-70mm L f2.8, the Tokina 14-20 has a tiny little bit louder noise on auto focus, butUploadit is still considered very quiet. When I tested in a very dark environment, the AF started seeking back and forth - if you have experience of using Canon 50mm f1.4, you know what I'm talking about. But the push/pull AF/MF ring works well. The MF was very convenient and easy to use. Both focus ring and zoom ring were so smooth - I had a better feeling over Canon's zoom. I put a 82mm Tiffen Super Clear filter on, instead of a UV filter. To travel with Canon SL1, I would only need two lenses - Tokina 14-20mm f2 and Canon 50mm f1.8 STM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens. Love the f-stop I own a 7D mark II. When I first received this lens I had a small bit of trouble with the focusing. Realized that I had to select the right focusing point to achieve proper sharpness. After that was past me I put a couple of photo outings on the lens. Worked perfect for me. Sharp when needed and the f-stop allowed some interesting shots at close range. This is my third Tokina lens. I also have the fish-eye, and the 12-24 f4. The fish-eye is a great specialty lens and the 12-24 has served me well for many years. The 12-24 has a fair bit of CA and needed to be stopped down a bit to get the results I wanted but the new 14-20 is in another league as compared to it. Much sharper and very little CA. So far I am quite pleased with this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good lens. I bought this lens exclusively for Night Astro Photography on a Canon crop sensor 760D camera. It's proven to be an excellent performer even wide open at f2 which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful low light wide lens shooting video in a confined space, worked great. Need to use manual focus to get it right, auto seems to go past the point of focus. Don't know why folks diss the focus clutch. I found it really easy and fast. very happy I got this lens

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this lens! I am pretty new to photography and only have a canon t3 that had been sitting around for years when I decided to pick it up months ago. I like shooting landscapes and decided to go with a wide angle lens. This has given me some beautiful pictures and for the price I feel its very good. Granted i have only used a kit lens, 24mm, 50mm, and a donated tamron 70-300.
