Hawke Sport Optics Endurance ED 8x42 Overview

Hawke Sports Optics' green 8x42 Endurance ED Binoculars feature phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms, extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass, and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to produce a versatile and capable binoculars that produce bright and clear high-contrast images with true color rendition and virtually no color-fringing. Coupled with the optical features are 42mm diameter objectives, which give the binoculars very competent low-light performance while maintaining a 388' field of view at 1000 yards and a wide apparent angle of view. This combination of optics and objectives make the Endurance ideally suited for most outdoor activities from hunting, to birding, to sporting events with less noticeable hand shake versus more powerful binoculars.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the binoculars durable and comfortable to use. The chassis is made from an impact and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate. They are also temperature-resistant, so the optical tubes won't expand and contract with temperature fluctuation, which over time can cause the optics to move out of collimation, preventing the binoculars from being able to achieve sharp focus. The optical tubes are wrapped with rubber armoring, which not only protects them from drops and impacts, it also gives the binoculars a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold and wet weather. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and fogproof, especially in extreme weather conditions. A right-eye diopter adjustment allows the binoculars to be customized to most people's needs, and twist-up eyecups means it can be comfortably used with or without eye wear.

Hawke Sport Optics Endurance ED 8x42 Reviews

Fantastic for the price

I spent several days researching binoculars. I could not really justify the price of higher end models for my budget and anticipated use. I am in no way disappointed, these binoculars are excellent giving me brighter image and colors, easier focusing, and perfect sharpness over my previous binoculars which I will now use to hold open a door. The accessories are very good overall, and the weight is a tad heavy but manageable. The grip is comfortable and secure. Objective covers and rain guard eye piece covers are excellent and are attached to either the strap (eye guard) or binocular body (objective covers). The lifetime warranty gives me comfort. No way I'm ever loaning these out. That are too good to lose. The carrying case has a hand and a removable shoulder strap. It allows my binoculars to be stored with them adjusted to my eye width, but not with the eye cups twisted up. No big deal. Buy with confidence.

Excellent in its class

There are several good choices for binoculars at this price point, and for me it comes down to personal preference. I watch birds. The optics of the Endurance ED are outstanding in all light conditions, and exceptional in low light. The focus wheel is at a low ratio, two whole turns from near to infinity, which is great for getting sharp focus while watching things moving in the trees. Both the focus and the diopter wheels are stiff enough that they are not easily moved by accident. The eye relief is 18mm, which is fine for when I'm wearing glasses. I also like the attached subjective lens covers. Other than that, the body is magnesium, which is heavier than plastic but much more durable, and I think they look cool in green.
