AKG N90Q overview

  • 1Description

The black N90Q from AKG is a reference-class noise-cancelling headphone that features TruNote technology together with ear-cup mounted controls for auto-calibration of the audio. It can be used with several devices in applications for sound reproduction such as recorders, CD players, smartphones, tablets, MP3 players, and more.

Featuring bass and treble tone adjustments with no distortion, the N90Q headphones also have three spatial listening modes that provide customization options that include "Standard", "2.1 Studio", and "5.1 Surround Sound", and have been developed with input from Grammy award winner Quincy Jones.

Furthermore, there are USB and HD audio connections that provide full HD audio playback, software updates and rapid charging. The built-in DAC (Digital Audio Converter) enables hi-res digital audio tracks on a PC or an Android device and can be connected through the micro-USB port on the headphones. This means no digital/analog/digital conversion is needed and no quality loss.

    AKG N90Q reviews

N90Q Reference Class Auto-Calibrating Noise Cancelling Headphones (Black) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound..Probably the best I've ever heard I waited a long time to get my hand on these, but its truly worth the wait. These are the best sounding headphones I've ever tried...I felt lost in listening to some of my favorite songs on these....The sound quality is exquisite and very fine to even the minute detail. However I do have a few complaints.. There is no Battery Indicator and I also wish there is way to listen without the ANC on... nevertheless, I'm happy with my purchase.. and hope to enjoy this for many years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great headphones for hearing impaired!!! I bought the N90Q as a replacement for the Master and Dynamic M60. I am hearing impaired, e.g. I wear hearing aids (hard of hearing, but not deaf although they my wife would say I am deaf). So I where I work I am on the phone a lot and it’s way more comfortable ton use headphones as opposed to a handset. However one of my biggest issues has been finding a headset that can provide me the volume level and block outside noises and can provide good call quality for kotbjust me but the phone recipient on the other and side. So after testing traditional headphones and wireless headsets from Plantronics to Sennheiser, I mean I tried literally over 40 different pairs of headphones (from traditional to Audiophile) and couldn’t find the right combination of headphones and mic that would allow me to have a great call so I could be heard well and also hear well while blocking out my office environment. What I landed with initially was the MW60 because they have a great external boom mic you can hook up to them. That worked well for a while but then I started losing more of my hearing so I went back at it trying to find headphones that can give me what I needed to work well on the phone. The long and short I found the N90Q and absolutely love them. It was the right combo of volume and noise cancellation while hooked up to my Master and Dynamic Boom Mic. The only issue I had was that the boom mic has a 3.5 mm male but the N90Q is a 2.5 mm female. So luckily I found a company that was able to creat a modded adapter that would allow me to use both (gear the call and be heard through my boom mic). Unfortunately thebafapters I bought didn’t work so I had to get a special order adapter. Nonetheless, this is the traditional way to use high end headphones but I am sure grateful I found these. If these headphones ever go bad I’ll be sure to come back to AKG!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid all round performer Pros - good noise cancellation (AC, airplane, ...) - no audible NC artifacts with and without sound source - unlike e.g. Sony WH-1000XM2 - comfortable fit - above average compared to most desk-bound headphones, not as unobtrusive as Bose (... but in a different league re: sound quality) - very balanced sound profile - works well for many genres (jazz, rock, electronica, classical, blues, ...) - good amount of musical detail and good imaging - excellent fit and finish Cons - wasteful packaging - the included metal box with charging port (!) is ridiculous and impractical - no native Lightning connector, have to use Apple USB to lightning cable and passive USB hub when running on batteries - usability with the button and wheel without visual checkmarks takes some getting used to
