The CP3NYK from Takamine is a New Yorker sized Pro 3 Series acoustic/electric guitar featuring a solid cedar top, solid koa back, and koa sides, with a smooth, natural satin finish. The mahogany neck has a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard and a 12-fret neck joint to take full advantage of the guitar's smaller body, which creates focused notes that are full of "fundamental" and lighter on overtones, making the instrument a popular choice for fingerstyle players. The combination of woods used in construction produces a sweet tone that is rich in midrange. Other decorative features include natural wood inlays and rosette, and gold hardware.
For electronics, the instrument includes an onboard Takamine CT4B II preamp system paired with a Palathetic undersaddle pickup for first-class amplified response and a natural acoustic tone. In addition, the preamp system has a three-band EQ, volume control, and a built-in tuner, giving the player better control of the guitar's tone in a live environment. A GC-S hardshell case is also included.
