Phottix PH89072 overview

Realize the full potential of your flash setup by adding wireless triggering and control with the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver. Compatible with Canon's E-TTL / E-TTL II flash system and equipped with a 2.4 GHz radio system, the Odin II receiver can be used to integrate shoe-mounted flashes and studio strobes into your setup and can be triggered by the original Odin receiver or Mitros+ flash at distances up to 328'. To further benefit users, it can be used in a multi-system setup that involve Odin TTL, Strato, and Strato II receivers as well as Mitros+, Indra360, and Indra 500 lights. A major improvement over the previous model is an expansion of channels and the introduction of the Digital ID which gives further control over channels 5-32 to eliminate interference with other systems.

Embracing TTL communication between the camera and flash, automatic exposures can easily be made and more advanced users can take advantage of manual power and zoom control to dial in the exact look they need. Using the five groups, users can also control different groups and flashes with varying settings as well as mix and match TTL and manual units. All of this is easily accessed via the large LCD screen along with buttons for adjusting settings.

Additional features include both high-speed sync for TTL flashes as well as the proprietary OverDrive Sync mode for manual studio strobes, both of which allow users to work at shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second. Also, users will be able to remotely control the modeling light of their Indra TTL strobes as well as use an AF assist light when needed. And, it has a mini-USB port for firmware updates as well as a 3.5mm sync port and a 5 VDC power port. It can also run on two AA batteries.

Can be triggered using the Odin II and original Odin transmitter as well as with the Mitros+ transceiver flash with full TTL support
Ratio control in A:B mode from 8:1 to 1:8 in 1/2 step increments
Manual power control from 1/1 to 1/128
LED indicator light
Exposure compensation of ±3 EV in 1/3 step increments
3.5mm sync port
Modeling light function
Locking foot with 1/4"-20
Runs on two AA batteries

Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver for Canon is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Versatile I was waiting for a TTL and Manual capable radio trigger for use with my Canon systems for event photography. With this product I decided the wait was over and jumped in. I already had Elinchrom Skyport triggers but wanted more function like HSS. The shoe mount and metal 3/8 screw attachment at the base was welcome. Sure didn't want it made of plastic. So far, I am very impressed and happy with the added versatility I can now enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never misses a beat er... flash I use these in combination with a couple of Canon 600EX-RT flashes and two Phottix Indra 500's. The beauty of this is that it integrates seamlessly into that particular environment and gives a great deal of latitude in playing with different lighting scenarios. I can use the Indra 500's for Key and Fill and the 600s for background effects/coloring/etc. The Trigger Receiver is pretty much a set it and leave it device. All control is achieved by the Odin II TCU. And what control there is! From TTL, to TTL and mixed manual, to multiple groups. this thing pretty much handles everything. The receiver dutifully passes off any information to the flash heads and makes sure they are firing. Plain and simple. This system has been a joy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work exactly as intended. With this trigger receiver, my Canon 580EX II flash units function just fine in a Phottix system of Mitros+ flash units and both Odin V1.5 and Odin II trigger units. This will definitely extend the useful life of these older Canon flash units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We totally raised our game with this... I got two Odin II Flash Trigger Receivers and of course the Odin II Transmitter. I have a smallish web design firm with seven employees. We have been offering what I consider very good quality photography and video services as part of our web design packages. Our first photo project with off camera flash was a unqualified success. The client is very, very pleased and we are as well. It took us a good couple of days playing with the trigger, receivers and and our 580 EXII flashes to get to where we had real confidence in what we were doing. Do we still have a lot to learn about off camera flash after one five day photo project? Absolutely. Is our work dramatically better in a very short time? Yes indeed it is. You have to use it, see what you get, learn more and do it again to get to point you want to be in front of a paying customer. We did that and Im happy we did. The learning curve is definitely there but you very soon start having intermittent exposures that somehow are perfect and exactly what you hoped for. Between those and the ones that are horrible - and figuring out what you did wrong - it starts to come together. It's been fun journey but we really like working with flash now. We are no longer available light specialists. It is one more thing that is helping us create the images our web designs need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm new to OCF. I mainly use OCF for roller derby. I really wanted to go with the Canon ST-E3-RT but the 30m range was not enough. I need a minimum of 150 ft. Adjusting the flash output compensation and the zoom remotely works fine. For the moment I'm using TTL. I've had syncing problems at some venues using channels 5 - 32. The IR assist is not that useful to me since I'm shooting with AI servo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pocket Wizard Killer Simply put, if you are considering buying a Pocket Wizard - Don't - Buy this instead. I bought the Odin II system to replace the pocket Wizard Flex/Mini system which doesn't work with my 1Dx Mk II. The Odin system works perfect, it is easy to use and I don't get any misfires or out of sync flashes. Best of all they are cheaper than Pocket Wizards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well. Works as advertised. A little more rugged than the previous generation model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great with Odin II Transceiver The receiver receive the electronic pulse with every flash. No hit & miss.
