The trickiest, and often most frustrating, part of any astronomical observation session is getting the rig properly aligned to begin celestial navigation. iOptron's PoleMaster Electronic Polar Scope replaces the conventional polar scope on your iEQ30, iEQ30Pro, iEQ45, and iEQ45Pro mount and utilizes a high-resolution imaging sensor to take a picture of the sky. The image is then displayed on your computer via a USB cable interface, and with the included PoleMaster software running, the images from the electronic polar scope get overlaid onto a star chart. All you need to do is adjust the scope's position to align the stars from the image to those on the star chart for perfect polar alignment. Since the imaging sensor is much more sensitive than the human eye, it is able to capture more of the star field which enables you to achieve a level of alignment precision that is virtually impossible using conventional methods. The software will also correct for atmospheric diffraction at low latitudes, which is often difficult when using a standard polar scope.
