Miller AIR Overview

The Miller AIR Fluid Head is a lightweight fluid head for the videographer on the go. Designed for cameras between 4.4 and 11 pounds, this die-cast aluminum alloy and rigid composite polymers head is dust and moisture sealed for smooth operation in harsh environments. The sliding camera plate allows 2.36" of balance adjustment, has screw slots, and it comes with a 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screw as well as a combination 1/4-20 screw with locating pin.

Two-steps of counterbalance help you tune the AIR Fluid Head to match the needs of the shot. The fixed pan and tilt drag remains consistent throughout the head's operating temperature range of -40 to 149°F, and each axis has its own independent lock. Featuring a 75mm half-ball leveling base you can use this head with 75mm bowl base tripod legs, or remove the ball leveling stud for flat-base mounting.

Miller AIR Reviews

for me, the best value for the money, and it is very smooth

Things I like. 1- Light weight compared to others, small for travel. 2- Smooth pan and tilt. 3- Can be used on ball head or flat head tripods. I use with flat head Gitzo legs. 4- Not as expensive as Satchler and many others. Things I don't like: 1- only two counterbalance settings. 2 - non-standard plate. I would buy again. I was in the NYC store and tried many before buying this. Most of my professional friends use Miller so I was already partial to Miller when I went into the store.

Perfect match for mirrorless/DSLR video

This is the best fluid head I've used for my GH5S. Counterbalance set to 1 is just right for a minimal body/lens/mic setup and setting 2 is perfect for a more elaborate setup. Been a longtime fan of Miller quality and to my knowledge they are one of the few that hasn't been sold to a large corporation that are known to cut corners to reduce costs, you simply can't find this quality elsewhere at this price point. The only thing missing is drag controls but the drag is set to a level I'm comfortable with, and having an illuminated bubble level would have been nice. I'll take the tradeoff of overall build quality over having a bunch of bells and whistles any day. Even though this was a special order item it shipped very quickly from the Miller branch in New Jersey. They are also very easy to get on the phone with if service or parts are ever needed.

Is the sliding plate interchangeable with the AirAV model?
Asked by: James
No, the AirV fluid head (#1044) uses the “Versa” camera plate (#1201) The AIR fluid head (#1042) uses the standard camera plate(#1205) However, you could add a receiver onto the AIR that would allow you to use the AirV Versa plate on the AIR Head. question

Will Manfrotto plates work with this head?
Asked by: Anonymous
No, sorry they are not compatible. If you must use Manfrotto, you could use the Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Sliding Mounting Plate (501PL) B&H # MA577 or the Manfrotto 357 Pro Quick Release Adapter with 357PL Plate B&H # MA357. You would attach either of these to the Miller quick release.
