Aputure VG-1 overview

  • 1Description

The V-Grip USB Focus Handle from Aputure is an ergonomic remote that allows you to trigger video start/stop, and adjust digital zoom, aperture, focus of select autofocus lenses, and select camera settings.

Built into the controller is a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting stud that lets you mount the controller on a variety of devices. Included mounting adapters allow attachment on shoulder rigs and jibs. Alternatively, an optional crab clamp can be used to attach to pan handles or stands. With possible future firmware upgrades, the V-Grip may be compatible with even more AF lenses.

The V-Grip is powered by two AA batteries (not included) for approximately 40 hours.

Note: The V-Grip returns to FV (focus control) mode when AV (aperture control) mode is inactive for 10 seconds. The unit turns off after 30 minutes of inactivity. Also, manufacturer firmware changes to lenses may disable autofocus functionality.

  • Can be updated with downloadable firmware updates
  • Supports different mounting accessories to attach to any tripod, rig, or crane (accessories not included)
  • Rubber buttons and finger grooves for comfortable operating
With the V-Grip you can remotely control the following functions of your camera, if your camera supports them:

    Aputure VG-1 reviews

V-Grip USB Focus Handle for Select Canon DSLRs is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a top tier product Button controls are non-intuitive and operation is flaky at best on my 5D3. This may be because it's not a supported model, but this is a global canon protocol the focus handle is using, so I don't get why specific models should work. Feel of the grip isn't bad, but it's a little light and plasticky, and the bottom cap has a tendency to come undone resulting in a battery prolapse which is annoying. Don't think I would buy this again if I knew what I do now.
